Volume impact of various exhaust changes
There's all kinds of information regarding the various options for modifying the B58 exhaust. Most are to enhance tone, volume, and even a few for performance (dp). My goal is not to piss off my neighbors, but to get a little more power and additional volume. If you were to compare the impact of volume (scale of 10) for each modification, what value would you assign the following:
I'm considering a catted dp and an axle back to get SOME volume, but not overly obnoxious. Thoughts? |

After that if you are more or less happy with the volume but want to change tone you can explore different axel backs. I chose to do this last as it's the most expensive of all the exhaust parts. Keep in mind valved exhausts can give you a lot of flexibility too. The mid-pipe or resonator delete probably doesn't do much for power but it is a decent increase in volume. Not the same level as a downpipe, maybe 50%. I had a 200cel Downpipe which was great but I ended up going catless and if I had to do it again I would have saved the money and gone straight to catless. That's my two cents. |
