New to 2ADDICTS But been lurking my new toy
Hello everyone, I have been lurking for some time now. Finding myself some What disatisfied with a WRX STI. Nice car really a real Beast. Just didnt find myself getting married to it. Before that I had two Miata's both heavily modded to run in STR for Autocross. Beautiful cars really, But with Size 12's I could never get on with them.
So I began my quest For a good low milage 2 series BMW. I drove both the 228 and the M235i. One guess for the one I chose. After several weeks of searching I found a good CPO Car But I lost out if by a few hours. I did not let it get me down and kept plowing ahead. Then late Friday afternoon I found it. It was in Addison Tx about four and a half HR drive. It ment buying a car on line. Something I never ever considered. But I said the Hell with it. Spoke with Ken For about an HR. He had me approved. So I loaded up the STI and raced out of Houston headed North. The Next morning I saw it. I knew immediately I had to have it. Last edited by Shadowfax028; 03-25-2018 at 10:00 PM.. |

Anyone here with experience running in Autocross?
Any help would be appreciated. Looking to upgrade the front suspension, tire and wheel. Ideally I would like to mount a 18 x 9 squared set up If that is possible. |

As for autocrossing a 2-er, it's not competitively classed so don't expect too much from it. In its stock form, it's classed FS and gets classed STU if you lightly modify. Its biggest limitation is its inability to fit any worthwhile wheel/tire combo under these tiny wheel wells, especially for its weight. Coming from a decently spec'd STU car myself, I was extremely disappointed but I probably should've researched this more prior to purchase. I'm not even going to bother with campaigning this car in autocross and will just stick to track days. Regardless, I still like the car for what it is. It might not be the most nimble car, it's a relatively nice car for basic daily duties with decent performance potential. Congrats on your new ride and enjoy! |

This car severely lacks front camber. First thing to do would be to get more camber, but of course that would push you out of stock class. 18x9 square will fit with the correct offset and some camber up front.

What's the correct camber and offset? I have been told by Apec Racing Parts I can only expect a 18 x 8.5 on this car.

Yea, they're right. Without more camber, 8.5" wide is about the maximum. Getting camber up to around -2.5 degrees will let you fit more rubber and rims under the fender. Check out some threads in the wheels and tire section for other member's setups.
