Charge pipe failure and sensor blew off

Hey guys,

Don't be naive like me, change that charge pipe preventatively.

Charge pipe blew off while merging onto the highway, sensor blew off the charge pipe and broke.

Luckily, I was less then a mile from home and could limp my way back.

Ordered a bms charge pipe, c clamp and new sensor.

I'm on bm3 stage 1 with 40k miles on my car and probably 5k with the tune, I rolled the dice with my charge pipe and that was a mistake.

I haven't seen the sensor getting ripped out of the charge pipe like that before, I've attached pictures for those interested.

Pretty common issue with the N55 but BMW recently revised the stock pipe with a more robust lip :

The TMAP sensor attaches to new charge pipe..

Someone is tickling your balls or something, I really don't see the humor in this..

Me too

Hi all. New to the site. Blew my charge pipe two days ago. As the name implies, bone stock 2014 M235i with 38k miles. Just ordered the VRSF charge pipe. Decided to join and contribute since this community seems so much more active than forums I’ve joined in the past. Thank you all for the wealth of information. Hope this install goes well.

Just blew my completely stock 2014 m235i's charge pipe at 99,000 miles. It was on the highway and it came off while on the throttle. Had been on the highway for about 10 mins. Didn't warm up my car as much as I usually do prior to getting on. Temperature outside was about 70. I live in a cold climate so thought I'd get away with never doing this upgrade but not so. Just ordered the MAD IC+CP from x-ph.

On stock?

I'm getting a charge pipe upgrade soon, but after reading this, I better hurry lols

Think I'm gonna stick to the UK brands, in case there's any issues can get support real quick. Pretty set on the Masata ones but some people are saying it's best to upgrade both the charge pipe and intercooler in one go, still researching more on the intercoolers.

Is Masata available in the US? Just moved to the US and got a M235i. Used to run it when I was in the UK and fitment was great so plan to get one but shipping is just insane...

Not really sure where you can find Masata in the US. Maybe there is an online retailer that can bring in and supply them there? I have been very satisfied with the unit I have so far. no need to worry if the plastic factory ones blowing out!

Why wait without an ETA? There are lots of really good options already available in the US
