Rattle Sound Under Acceleration Fix
I finally found a solution to my 2015 M235i rattling sound during hard accelerations that I have had for years. The rattle sound seems to be coming from underneath the center console and/or underneath the rear seats. The rattle is coming from the hand break cables that are underneath the car. The retainer clip (34406854898) breaks and then the cables bang against the underside of the car. See this video for the sound and how to remove it. (see link ).
The removal is very similar to the video however the install is different. I did not take off my muffler, there is enough space once everything is loosened. Also, I guess our 2-Series cars have less distance between the drive shaft and the bracket so there is no way to install the bracket with the drive shaft installed. So what I did was cut a channel on the bracket that would allow it to slide in without removing the drive shaft. I used my dremel tool to complete cut through the plastic, rubber, and metal of the bracket, as shown in red on the picture.
