S5 to 2021 M240I

Well, bit the bullet and traded in my S5 and order a 2021 M240I. Got almost 14% off msrp on the M240I. However, I will have to finance it in order to get the discount. I probably will finance it for a few months and then pay it off as there is no penalty.

Will be a 6 speed, in Mineral gray metallic, premium package, black out front grill frame, black 18" wheels with all season runflats. I didn't want the runflats, but that was the only option if I wanted the black 18" wheels. I figured it will be cheaper to replace the tires than the wheels.

The dealer I ordered from actually has an allocation and has a production number already. Should be a tad over two months with some luck.

2021 will be the last year for the 2 series. This may be the last of the BMW with manual transmission. Really looking forward to it.

I did take a hit on the trade in. I probably can get a bit more selling it privately, but the convenience out weights the hassles.. I guess if you want to play you have to pay.

14% off MSRP is a nice deal, how did you manage that with the current incentives? That's about the same discount I figured I could get on the one I just ordered, but I'm counting on taking delivery between Thanksgiving and New Year's, when BMW typically has their most generous incentives of the year. Currently, all the best incentives are reserved for leftover 2020 models.

Like I said I took a hit on the trade in. KBB listed my 2019 S5 trade in value between 44k - 47k. I only got 41.5K. None of the dealer would negotiate on the trade in value. In a way by reducing the selling price it actually worked out better as it will be less sales tax.

I see, so they played games with the numbers and gave you a better deal on the car but a lower value on your trade-in. You will likely qualify for better incentives when the car arrives. In past years, the financing credit has been $3000 in December. My understanding is that you lock in the incentives available when you order, but you can get the incentives available when you take delivery if they are better.

Thanks for that information. Apparently, you can get $2000 cash incentive if you are a USAA member which I am(8 yrs in the Navy). However, the fine print says not eligible if you finance through BMW. Funny thing is I got a 1K discount by financing through BMW. So when it comes time to pay for the car assuming there are no other incentives I will just take the 2k cash incentive and just pay cash. I will come out 1K ahead. Will see....

Almost similar trajectory. I sold my 2013 S4 in July and ordered a 2021 Mineral Grey M240i with six speed. Just picked it up last Friday but had to leave town for awhile. Looking forward to some serious windshield time when I get back. I didn’t have a trade so my discount worked out to 12%. The Mineral Grey is really beautiful, congrats.

Thanks. Congratulation to you as well. So it took two months to get your car? You got a nice deal as well. Can I ask you to post some photos of your car when you have a chance? I have trouble finding a mineral grey metallic m240i on line.

Thanks

Thanks guys for the photos. The cars look awesome. I love the oyster and the red interior. Now I am wondering if I should change my interior? Decisions, decisions?

I'm getting a similar combo: MG, Coral Red, Cerium Grey wheels / grille, (6mt). Both of my previous BMWs ('15 Sapphire black 228i, '12 MG 328i) had red interiors too . In the process of ordering the 3 series headrests at the moment (got 1 not realizing they were sold individually).

I almost with the cognac interior (my dad has a 2020 blue X3 w/ cognac vernasca, but I wasn't sure how dakota would differ so chickened out).

But I agree - beautiful cars
