Runflat flat

I'm sure I hold the record for most number of runlet flats. On our way from Cleveland to Cincinnati and hit a pothole on highway. Completely destroyed sidewall. Could barely drive on tire. Was really lucky and there was a tire place really close to exit ramp. Serviced mostly farm equipment. Pull in and car in front of us hit exact same pothole and destroyed their runflat, too. Folks were super nice at tire place and found a used tire that was right size and threw it on for $40. 100 miles to Cincinnati then next day got a new tire. Fortunately other 3 tires were close to new so no problem with tread difference. cant wait to get rid of these tires. ordered the spare from Modernspare.com. not going to take any more risks. if this tire place had not been close by we would have been totally screwed.

Sorry to hear you had to deal with that. You certainly were fortunate the tire shop was close by.

Do you happen to recall the exit number or the name of the tire shop? I'll be going up to Columbus and back down to the Cincinnati area in the next few weeks, and it would be great to know where that pothole is generally located. Despite all the work that gets done on I-71, I don't think ODOT is making the progress it ought to be making.

The pothole was just north of Mt Sterling. The tire place was in Mt Sterling. Do you ever track at Mid Ohio? I'll be there a couple times this summer. Would be nice to say Hi.

Thanks, I appreciate it and will keep an eye out on my way back south!

During 2018 and 2019 I ran Mid-Ohio with the Buckeye Chapter of BMWCCA and PCA's Ohio Valley Region. We had a bit of an interchange about it last fall here in the Tracking / Autocrossing subforum: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1769652.

I sort of aged-out of the hobby during the last year and decided it was time to hang my helmet up, so I'm afraid we won't be able to meet-up there. Have fun at Mid-O, and post a video if you get the chance!
