M2 shifter on the m235i
Hello everyone,
I was curious if the m2 m-dct shifter be used on the M235i dct shifter. It would be a nice add-on for my car. Can this be done? Has anyone ever tried this swap? |

There definitely is some way this may work , the F85 x5m has A ZF 8at but uses A M DCT style shifter, using its shifter and the m2s interior trim base. 99.9% it would work I'm going to look at part numbers

Just nit picking and unrelated to your question but, the M235i (in the US at least) is not available with a DTC (Double Clutch Transmission) it uses the ZF 8HP. A great transmission with many amazing features, but BMW's 7 speed DTC is still has the edge as far as performance. |

I think the issue is going to be around park. There is no park button on the shifter if I recall.

Sounds like it just goes into Park when you turn the car off, which technically our cars do as well. So if you wanted to put the car in park you would need to turn off the car. If you wanted to leave the motor running I guess it's hand brake and neutral.

More than likely for this to work will require some coding or possible loss of functionality at some level like having to engage the handbrake which would give you that real Dual clutch feeling ( )

I guess for me I like the look of the m2 shifter. I underdtand bmw cars in general require coding to unlock functionalities not configured from the factory. Can anyone confirm how you put the m2 into park it doesn't look like it has a park button based off of the interior pictures.

Did anyone solve the problem with the manual mode? 🤔 Just swapped the gear selector/shifter on my 228i and coded it so far that the error doesn't appear anymore. I'm quite sure I have to code something but I'm not quite sure what. 😅
Also disassembled both shifters and the pcb is different as aspected. 🙃 The only reason is the small electric actuator. It pushes the leaver back into neutral position after you shut down the engine. |
