This is unfortunate.

Do you know of any cost effective alternatives to M1 0w-40? You could get a 5 qt. jug from Walmart for $26.

Man, I'm gonna miss the frequent $12 rebates I get on $26 jugs of Mobil 1 from Walmart!

Is Mobile 1 still good once you are out of warranty and doing your oil change every 700 miles?

What debate are you speaking of?

Mobil 1 does not make an oil that meets BMW's spec for many of its recent cars.

Why use a motor oil that does not meet the factory's spec, whether in warranty or out of warranty? Especially when there are alternatives available for a similar price if not less. Not long ago both Walmart and amazon had the Castrol product on sale for less than $19 for a 5 gallon jug.
