Need Advice!

Alright so I will be getting the 16 M235i next month and am currently snagging some parts to put on right as I get it. I currently have the M Performance Front Lip, Grilles, and Spoiler. I will get the mirror caps soon.

Here is my dilemma and I need some forum advice...

If you had ~$1200 to spend, what would you suggest I get out of these two options:

A) M Performance Carbon/Alcantara Trim plus Carbon Selector Lever, Carbon Console Trim, Carbon E Brake

B) an AWE exhaust

As of now I'm leaving towards option A because I currently have no mods lined up for the inside and those would be so refreshing to walk into each time I get in. B is tempting though because the stock exhaust is nothing to write home about (keep in mind I quite like ASD though).

Any thoughts or suggestions?

You will get the full scope of opinions...you know that LOL. BUT, I think the sound is what makes it a better ride. Quiet carbon? Nice, I guess, but the sound is where I place my bets.

BUT then you are reading a guy who has had his 2014 for 16 months and turned on the radio/whatever in that car twice. Tunes? Download? Downshmoad. LOL...I enjoy the "twin speakers" at the rear of this little rocket. BUT, go for what makes you enjoy the car the most. Best counsel I can offer.

Keep in mind this is only for when I first get the car, I plan on doing both down the line, just a matter of what comes first. I.e. Will the stock exhaust be sufficient for say 6 months then I upgrade, or vice versa.

I know I'll get the whole spectrum of opinions but my thought process is that neither do anything in terms of power so it's basically looks vs sound.

I would go with just the 5 piece carbon interior, and a ER DP.

On this car i am going with the modding of the outside first before moving to performance then if i still have the car i will mod the interior.

On my previous car i only went with the performance part. By then i was so happy driving the car i forgot all about modding the exterior then i sold it afterwards... So i kinda forgot to mod the outside was to busy driving.

B! You better order it now. It can take up to 6-8 weeks to get it.

But...
the best mod I've done to the car is my alcantara steering wheel hands down.

Alcantara wheel would be the second part of A, looks so nice

Definitely A.

I have the same parts and the feel of the selector lever and e brake are a huge improvement every time I get in the car, to say nothing of the appearance. The stock console cover looks very cheap for a vehicle in this price as well, so the carbon piece really improves it. I will say that if you have black leather interior it may be a bit dark with the carbon pieces. I have the red leather and it works well but probably would think twice if I had a black interior.

I probably would choose performance over sound, so the exhaust would not be a preferred mod for me anyway...

I am getting the black interior, so definitely something to think about.

No matter what I am doing the Active-8 tune after break in so performance is on the list for sure.

Go with A first. It goes a long way and can be appreciated by everyone who sits in your car. Performance has short term pizzazz. Interior last longer and has the investment longevity.

I think I am going to go with A...I can always sell it later down the road and recoup most the money anyway.

I have the full carbon interior kit with black leather. Looks great. Definitely glad I got that. Also have the M Performance Exhaust. Awesome. It's a tough choice. I would probably go with exhaust, then carbon kit.

Get the Carbon Fiber, I saw it a week ago and it's fantastic! As for the exhaust, just unplug the servo and let your car breath naturally out of both tips...it will get deeper within the first 5k miles!

I think we spoke yesterday and discussed different exhausts. Go with the option that makes you feel better about the car.

I would lean towards option B. But I would be biased. I might be in the minority, but I am not fond of the carbon fiber look. A matter of personal preference.

I suggested option B to him over the phone but he said he would be more happy with option A because it is something he can see and appreciate everyday vs option B which would be an upgrade for others to hear

Update:

Ended up going with option A. Brian from Sun Motor Cars hooked me up with great prices on the interior trim pieces. I decided that the trim coupled with the steering wheel will be super nice to walk into everyday I drive the car. I certainly plan on upgrading the exhaust, but I will probably do that when I decide to get the tune.

Thanks for all the responses!
