Trunk lid opener in the driver's footwell?

I have had my M235i for half a year, and only just now it occured to me it doesn't have a button in the driver's footwell for opening it from the inside that is mentioned on 40 of the Owner's Manual. Could it be that Comfort Access is required to have this button?

No, I have the trunk release button but no comfort access. They aren't linked.

IS yours 2014 or 2015 (2016) model? Mine is 2015; maybe I was looking it the wrong place, but I remember from my previous F10 the button was located just above the bonnet release lever - is it where it should be in the M235i, too?

Mine is a 2015, built in early June 2015. Yes, the button is just above the bonnet (aka hood) lever.

Yeah there's a little rectangular button you push right near the hood lever.

I do have something like a plug where it should be; very cheap-looking, more like a Polish Fiat from 50 years ago Could anyone send me a pic how it should like? TIA!

Look with door open

I have a 2015 228i and the rectangular button is quite prominent with the door open. About 3 inches above the hood/bonnet release. It is very difficult to see while sitting in the seat with the door closed.

By the way I use it all the time after I park in the garage and need access to the trunk.

Could be that Euro-spec cars don't have this feature -- or, taken a step farther, that the EU/Poland has a law against such a feature. There has been debate regarding remote-trunk releases in the U.S. since the 1970s, mainly regarding a manual override activated from inside the trunk ... but I've heard conjecture about safety concerns with power trunk releases as well.

Maybe they forgot to put the button cap on, or it fell off somehow?

My old e46 had the trunk release button at the same place. Hard to reach. Maybe it's a BMW thing.

No: I feel comfortable in surmising that it's a safety thing to prevent accidental engagement. Makes sense to put it just above the double-pull hood release and recess the button ...

Per an earlier poster, it appears that some Euro-spec cars don't have the interior power trunk release button, likely because of market regulations. (Sorry, Moldcad!)

If so (i.e. market regulations are at play here), then why did I have it in my 2013 F10?

Oh - and apart from the lost functionality, I cannot come to terms with the quality of the masking ppiece of plastic that I see here instead of a switch button. Here in Poland we suffered from low quality of virtually everything in out everyday life for so long during th f**ed communist era that I ccanot help thinking if these is a BMW (heck - German in general) quality of everyday little things, then no thanks - I don't want o journey bacwkards in time....

Does the U.S spec trunk swing fully open when unlocked, or does it just unlatch like mine does? If it's just unlatched I don't see the big advantage of having such a button.

Just unlatches the trunk lid.

You can use one of the many BMW VIN decoders available on the web to see if this functionality has been deleted.

Since my BMW dealer says "no comfort access=no footwell button", I guess the only way of convincing them is show an evidence in the form of a similar picture as above, but in EU-spec vehicle. Could I please ask those of you living in Au to make and post the pic? BTW, I found it at realom and there is no mention of it being part of Comfort access trim:

part number 61319200316 - TIA!

Bump....

I'd really appreciate some M235i user from Europe for checking on the foot-well lid unlocking button, and if possible - post a picture here. TIA!
