17" Rims and Tires Thread

Thought it would be nice to make a single thread with all the info. Please post up your wheel and tire combinations in the 17" sizing.

Would love if you could follow this template

Rim Manufacturer: i.e Volk
Rim Sizing including offset: i.e 17x8.5 ET40 FR 17x9.5 ET45R
Tire Sizing: i.e 235/40FR 255/35R
Suspension: i.e Factory or Coil Overs and Fender Rolling Required
Usage: i.e Commuting, Winter, Drag, Road Course, etc
Picture if possible

I will try to organize them into categories, like Snow Setup and Track Set up.

Thanks!

Rim Manufacturer: Kosei K4R
Rim Sizing including offset: 17x8 ET42 square
Tire Sizing: 235/40 square (Bridgestone RE-11's)
Suspension: Factory
Usage: Street driving & Road Course

Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures from a distance. In the one attached you can see the large gaps between the tire and wheel well. These are very short tires.

Just curious why you went with 235 all around vs 245s.

Good question. I was experimenting with tire height. From what I understood if you reduced tire height it would effectively act like changing the rear differential gear resulting in quicker acceleration. I really wanted to get below 11.5 in ¼ mile and I was at 11.6. Obviously this wasn’t optimal for road racing (narrower contact patch), but I figured it was only slightly narrower and would be good enough.

Ah! Totally thought you were talking about a road course earlier.

Sorry for the confusion. The main purpose was road course, but I also wanted the 1/4 mile time, so dual purpose I suppose. I figured I'd try that setup as a start and would end up burning them off pretty quick so I could go to the 245 then.

As it worked out I didn't have the tires/rims long at all. Had a bad tire and in the process of diagnosing the tire shop managed to damage the rims. All of it went back to Tire Rack and the Kosei's were then out of stock, so I had to find a new options which ended up being 18".

Indeed. Got these for the track. Just wish they looked better. But worth the performance you get from the weight savings.

I think he uses 235/40 (not 235/45). I wonder how 235/45/17 would look and if they'd be any issues with car handling.

Due to the larger sidewall, turn in would be a little looser but bumps wouldn't be as jarring!

What offset? I am eyeing the Apex ARC-8 17x8.5 +40 squared. It's a E36M fitment used on the fronts. I guess there's only one way to find out if they fit or not. They told me that they don't recommend them but I'm almost sure that they just haven't test fitted them yet. I'm willing to try. This summer hopefully.
