Installed a long time project. DIY OLED info screen. It integrates to cluster powered state and infotainment brightness so it matches nicely what other digital elements of the car are doing. It sniffs PT-CAN (coolant temp, oil temp and so on) and is also able to request a bunch of data from the OBD interface (boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure etc).

The case is 3D printed. The controller is a Teensy 3.2, located near the GWS unit.

This is actually a really nice setup.

Care to share your parts/coding writeup? Been playing with the idea of doing this very same thing for my car.

I'll probably make a thread about this in the DIY section one day. I am thinking about making a proper PCB for this to sell as a kit for other DIYers. That would make it much easier for others to replicate this setup.

This was my 4th back surgery and it was on L1-L2 disc. Not sure if it was the proximity to the spinal cord or my age (70) that made this a very difficult recovery compared to the three previous ones 6 years ago. Three days in intensive care followed by 11 days at a rehab hospital. I saw the surgeon today and got cleared for driving short distances once again.

Now my M240 sat in a nice garage all this time and every two weeks I had my son pop the hood and put the charger on it as battery voltage would drop down to 12.0. I was able to pop the hood yesterday and lo and behold some small critter has used the lint bucket material to make a cozy nest right above the oil filler cap. Removed it and looked for evidence of "mouse chew" on the engine bay wiring, found none.

I was a bit worried as the car demanded a TPMS reset and it took a very long drive after it got to 99% before it started reading the pressures and temp. I was afraid there was some "mouse chew" on the sensor lines that read the wheel sending units. All is well again.
I hope the recovery goes well and enjoy the ride. I’ve got chronic back issues as well and understand the pain and limitations.

Installed a FTP Charge Pipe… Have a feeling the lower connection is not properly fitted. Also saw some type of slight oily residue in the OEM one that was removed. Is this normal?

What makes you think the lower part isnt fully connected? There is a 'Locking tang' that has to fit in the corresponding notch on the IC. Did you make sure those were lined up? Some oil residue is normal as apparently Turbo BMW's are bad with blow-by.

When i did the install of the lower piece (the nee CP comes in two pieces) it seemed there was a lot of play, not rotationally, but as if the connection to the turbo was not ideal. I actually just checked it again today and tried to push it on even further while removing the C clip. Seems it is on there as much as it can go.

I also just replaced my Fuel Tank Breather Valve because i had a P0446 code and my car would do that hesitation idle after filling up with gas

Another install of the MN Lasercutting wheel button kit.

Being able to change the drive modes without removing a hand from the wheel is slick. I'm not crazy about the blue buttons, but it appears that with a slight modification to the stock blanks, they could easily be turned into functional buttons for a total incognito look. That may be my next step for this project...

I put gas in the car. Prices have gone up a fair amount since I last bought gas on 10 April.

GasBuddy shows that Shell V-Power is running between $5.15 and $6.00 in the Cincinnati region. Topping my tank up with a bit under 12 gallons cost $66.40. Yikes!

I feel that, just spent $55 for 11.091 gallons here in Texas for 93. About $4.95/gal. Ouch, indeed-this is my only daily. Good thing I have a short commute to work! Get about 3-5 days on a tank depending on my behavior.

Yeah, old guy here, one who remembers 23.9¢/gallon in a crazy expensive place like San Francisco in March, 1972; and, 22.9¢/gallon on Boston Mountain in Northwest Arkansas in April, 1972. The latter was equal, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' CPI Inflation Calculator, to $1.61 today.

Bottom line: the world has changed. As an optimist, I continue to believe that it changes, in fits and starts, for the better.

Old guy as well. Remember rolling pennies to buy gas in High School.

Got my M240 in November 20, first fill up was $2.53 / G First fill up in 21 was 2.79/G mid 21 was $3.45/G. First fill in 22 was $3.55/G by March 22 it was $4.35/G it peaked at $5.25/ in mid June and went down to $5.19/g first of July.

Same gas at the same station.

Welcome to my world. I managed to find 91 octane premium for under $6/gallon for the first time in about a month today - $5.90.

Getting pricey for fuel these days for a track day. 290km trailering the car to the track I most commonly go to, 300km around the track and 290km back again consumes 150 litres of Shell 91, currently costing CAD$2.29 per litre. A total fuel bill of $350 (USD$270) compared with the track day cost of around $250.

You haven't filled up since April?

The prices are about the same here in MN for Shell V power. I think I have paid about 5.50 per gallon for 93 octane. I also put in a couple gallons of E85 into each fill up. But....I have to go like 8 miles in the opposite direction of the shell station to get E85, put some in a gas can, trek over to the shell station, pour the gas can in my car, then top off with 93 octane. Did this yesterday and it was a 45 minute project from leaving until I got home. My wife doesn't get it and she won't give me the time to explain why I'm doing it. It is a bit silly when you think about it.

I just take the car out occasionally for a back-roads run. I'm still thinking about a road trip this year, but the people I was going to meet have backed-out, so I'm not sure that's going to happen.

Is buying a barrel of E85 and keeping it at home an option for you?

Got it. I thought I was doing not a lot of driving having only put on 6k miles in 17 months of ownership but then there is you.

I should get a barrel of E85. I need to find a gas station that has both E85 and 93 octane at the same pump so there is only 1 stop. But shell v power is supposed to be the best. In the colder months I will tune down to a less aggressive map and won't be using any ethanol so this is really only a summer months logistical pain.
