No mid adjustment
After living with the car for a while, and also having the HK,
I don't know why there is no MID-RANGE adjustment, power and bass isn't everything, I have plenty of both but depending on the source there is a muddiness which comes from not being able to inject more mid into music. it's hit and miss increasing the top and too much bass, gives a thud instead of a nice crisp bass. annoying especially on a 50k car you can't adjust that. even if I upgrade the speakers what use if I don't have proper eq on the 1 series, NO HK, I was able to effect better tone control I'm almost certain I had a mid setting |

Yeah not having an equalizer is pretty lame for their top sound option on the F22. Much cheaper cars at least have EQs on much worse stereos.
It is what it is. I have a high end system at home (no need for EQ there) so I just try and listen to the nice exhaust note more when I am driving. |

txs for the replies, but just changing speakers amps etc, without a way of changing the Eq doesn't really change things, the speakers are still only going to be fed the same frequencies from the amp or head unit ? I mean the sensitivity and there respond frequency may be better ? but if a speaker gets (for arguments sake) 20khz, that's all it's going to put out. It can't put out 25/30 200. Unless your putting some form of signal processing from the HU, to the amp, or amp to spkrs ?

The problem with that, is no easy quick method to tune. As between songs/tracks and even sources the sound envelope changes, you may want more less bass/mid /top.
I mean as an initial setup that sounds great, but unless you have some form of eq at your fingers that kinda still sounds like too much hard work. Of course there are work arounds and not knocking anyone for trying. Basically just amazed on a 50k car there is no mid control LOL |

I have an $80K car with no sound system, A/C, doors, roof, windows, power brakes, power steering or electronics other than instruments and ECU.
It really depends on the buyer market needs as a whole. I find the M240i too noisy to bother with anything other than a basic system, unless you turn the sound up a lot, but then hearing loss and not being able to hear emergency vehicle sirens become an issue. |

Bimmer Code. In expert mode. Change the audio file to F45. Check the coding form for details. And disconnect your center channel speaker.
Your Welcome |

Hey guy's I did what is considered a 1st stage upgrade (from 2addicts thread and a couple of youtube vids)
I removed the front dash speakers, on mine there is a mid and tweeter combo, instant difference, not as muddy and also louder. Lot more clarity. When I feel brave enough I try the F45 eq thing using bimmercode |
