Both are. Just a school of thought type thing.

I am personally going to do my 2000 km below 4k rpm. Then it's mine to use as I wish. 2000 isn't really that long anyways.

I am more of a car baby-er though. I treated my old gti like a Lamborghini haha.

In addition, one of the answers came from bmw and is written in your manual. One is off the internet?

Sorry I thought it was an odd question considering the thread.

My dealer told me they will do seasonal service inclusive so I figure I will just take it in come September for that and consider the matter closed.

That's a very sleazy thing to do to the next owner of the car.
Still, it's yours to do what you want with.

I wouldn't call it sleazy in the slightest. Buying a used car you know full well that you have no idea what the previous owner did or didn't do in terms of caring for the vehicle.

Doing ED in 3 weeks. Going to warm up the car thoroughly every time, but after that screw it. I'm in the "race" camp. I was very careful with my first car although it was a lease, and then couldn't care less for the other 2 (the fourth was a demo). Didn't see a difference. Not missing out on the great roads for a breakin period that. I don't think that the dealer will ask me if I properly broke-in the car if I have issues with it.

I think BMW's approach in the owner's manual is your typical corporate CYA mentality.

Classic BMW in Dallas told me a 1200 mile service is not included with M235is because it doesn't have break in fluids like true M cars have. (M3, M4, etc).

My baby just hit 1200 today and I got to hear her sing her sweet music (with the windows down) for the first time, as I've been a good boy until now. So THIS is the sound that everyone's been talking about. Beautiful!

That's just sad. It's a car that's meant to be driven, not something for you to say "my precious!" Live a little!

Sorry, just couldn't help it.

Lol! Just playing it up. I've jokingly referred to it as "my precious" a few times just to see my wife's reaction.

My dealer told me to come at 1200, and inspection is paid for sure, not sure about the oil change though.

Not breaking in the car can cause you problems and a lot of inconvenience during first 3 years, easy. Having to leave the car for repair is a big inconvenience, even if it's free.

Neglecting a car care, just because you don't care - this does not deserve any respect as well. If you are really this kind of person, buy Nissan, that car will fit your attitude much better. We have a lot of Nissan in the ghetto area of my city.

here is the thing, status is not your money dude, it's inside of you. status is what kind of person you are, status is recycling, caring for planet, not being distructive, but being creative. this is a next level of awareness, which some people are still very far from reaching. And i have never seen careless rich people, they are usually smart, educated and responsible (at least in usa). unfortunately in usa i also met a ridiculous amount of retarded immature people, very sad but a fact. they are 30 and they act like they are 16. this is why there are ghetto areas. you point is totally stupid. i bought M235i, because this is what I wanted to buy as my daily driver, has no relation to my ability to buy a ferarri and you didn't even inderstand the point, no surprise though. go ahead destroy your leased car, because it is not yours! good luck! thanks god there are not so many people like you, otherwise we would be still living in stone age or maybe even extincted already.

not really though. thats called character.

Status is how successful you are or how much money you have, has nothing to do with what kind of person you are. its a way that ranks your position in society and has nothing to do with a persons character.

Nissan, BMW, and Ferrari imply 3 diff statuses in the world we live in. Generally speaking, the person driving the Ferrari is more successful (or has a higher status) than one who drives a Nissan.

Some people work hard at the perception of status and this is more common with younger people. As you get older (or one with more experience in life) you tend to care less about what other people think.

that being said, and more to the point of this thread - Someone that does not care about taking care of their car because it will be someone else's problem demonstrates character and is a good display of the kind of person they are, more so than the kind of car they drive. These are generally the type of people that have more problems in life (bad karma?) but to each his own, its a free world and we need all types of people to make the world go round.
