Just finished stage 2 hex tune. Traction? What traction?

The low end torque is insane. I did 0-60 runs in 25 degree weather a couple weeks ago when I only had stage 1 hex tune and did 4.21s.

Today it was 6 degrees warmer and I'm now stage 2 hex tune with wagner 200 cell downpipe and I couldn't get a decent run due to traction. Best run was 4.36s starting in 2nd gear and that was with the tires blazing the entire run. I can't wait to try when I can actually hook up. This thing rips!

tires

If you have summer tires, they will be very hard at that temp.

Really wish there was some more ecu tunes for the b58. I’d enjoy a hex tune for sure >.<

I have winter tires. Michelin Alpin PA4

They did great on an even colder day with stage 1. Stage 2 apparently added enough low end torque to make it hard to hook now

Did the dinan sport tune for wife's 340i x-drive and it worked great and was cheap and removable. I'd still prefer a flash tune but the piggybacks will get you by for now

What about just flash stalling the torque converter rather than stalling it for a few seconds to 2,000 rpms and building boost?

How easy was the downpipe install?

Traction should be a lot better once all the salt residue is off the streets. Earlier in the week I was all over the place in my stock 6MT on dry roads. That salt residue is terrible. I could punch it from a 2nd gear roll at 3000rpms and shred the Aplin PA4 tires.

flash stalling had the same result. the best run I did was brake boost 2nd gear start in manual mode, but even then once the rpm's got up midway it started spinning again. I'm curious to see how it does on a nice day when tires are stickier

downpipe was easiest of the mods I did. lift helps a ton but I don't think it would be bad even on ramps or jack stands

Damn. That steady surge and build of turbo torque can really overwhelm the rear tires on these cars. It's so different from an NA motor, even a torquey one. The deep gearing of the 8AT probably isn't doing it any favors either.

Good to hear. I'll be doing it on jack stands. Luckily I've got all sorts of tools and the exhaust is very clean.

I’m running jb4 map 5 at the moment with other mods as well. Ran a 7.76 at 88.9mph in the 1/8th. Wanting a flash tune to help with the plateau of power at the high end because of fuel limits. Putting some PS4S in 18s on the car in a few weeks. Should cut that time down a tad more so long as there’s no wheel spin (even with awd I was spinning enough at the strip).

Nice! Ps4s will definitely help. They did on my dinan stage 4 M2 quite a bit

I've been running the Stg 2 HEX tune since September although I was dealing with a boost leak for much of the fall. Finally got that fixed a few weeks ago and it feels far more powerful than it was with the boost leak. Data logged the tune with MHD and boost spikes to 22 psi @ ~3300 rpm on a 3rd gear pull which is why you feel so much power in the midrange! I'm running square 225/40 Hankook I-Cept evo2 W320 which have been phenomenal in winter conditions but I have traction issues in 3rd gear getting on the freeway at more than half throttle. DSC will sometimes flash on 4th gear WOT pulls in Sport + and sometimes the car feels as though it's trying to break loose in 5th gear @ WOT sometimes. This definitely won't happen with my summer tires but makes winter driving in SLC really interesting to say the least haha! My car is 6MT btw!

Coming soon!

We've already begun initial development and are working on
testing and validation across additional software versions and
vehicle models.

We are definitely excited about these new applications. It will
likely be an early spring release, with all of the the same
performance, consistency, and reliability as what our
current customers have become accustomed to!

That’s fantastic news! If you’re looking for a beta tester, I’d be happy to help

If only you were in So Cal!

We start local so we can get the car on the dyno, then it
goes out on the road, and whenever possible we also try
to schedule some track time.

That being said, once we're ready to collect some driver
feedback in other regions, maybe I can pass along a
discount code for a few luck 2ADDICTS members.

Drop us a PM with your direct contact info and I'll keep
you in the loop.

Not for me. I’m on 255 AS tires and with the JB4, the car felt like the rear wanted to kick out too much. Will be checking the alignment soon.
