Anybody care to share there thoughts and opinions on this these turbo kits / turbos?
Speed tech has a turbo capable of 1000 hp even tho that's unrealistic. I feel like this would be the best way to go and run less boost. So in the future I won't have to be in the market for a bigger one. Pure turbos is what I've heard a lot of people using on there n55 engine but I don't like that fact that it's only capable of holding up to I want to say a little over 550. I feel as if I go this route I will end up buying a bigger turbo in the future. Big boost- haven't really found anything to convincing on them yet. On my list to get right now is Fuel-it port injection. Upgrade my LPFP. Throw in a meth kit and run e85. Right now I have full dinan bolt ons (I mean everything you can think of) and I'm at about 380 whp and like 440 ft lbs of tq. I'm also interested in buying one of those "build you n55 engine kits" from ABR Houston. They have something called "the punisher" really interested in that as well. Let me know what you guys think ! http://bigboostusa.com https://www.abrhouston.com https://www.speedtech.com https://www.pureturbos.com/store/[IMG][/IMG] |

Ps2 has a wide user group with lots of positive results, I haven't heard to much on here about speedtechs solution. But it's price point is higher I believe. Also, keep in mind ps2 tuning options are now natively avail by mhd and maybe bm3 so the support from that end is alot easier. If you want big numbers pi, lpfp and a turbo is what your gonna need. I myself will prob just go a ps2 |

dinan turbo is like a pure stage 1.
Pure stage 2 can handle some big numbers with TMAP upgrade and octane/ tune etc... Anything over 25psi is close to 600 and also maxing out what the tranny can take.. The zf8 can take 500, anything more than that, just keep saving for a new tranny cause your going to need one.

It's just a comment.
I don't know if I've ever seen one broken or blown up, from excess power, so nobody can safely say. The rest of the platform needs to be further developed. It's a long shot to make 500hp on these cars due to all the limitations. You're going to need a few people consistently making that power and consistently beating on the car before you can voice any reliability concerns.

wheel.
With port injection, stage 2 turbo, JB4 + a real tune Flash (no OTS), full bolt ons, high octane fuel, 500 wheel is very easy in a 2series, n55 or b58. Just bolt ons and good fuel you will get to 400wheel. + meth or port injection 420-435 wheel. + Turbo only 425-440 + Turbo + meth or PI 450-600 max boost 21.9 psi + 3.5 bar tpms sensor (boost 22 psi+) All really depends on your car and tune, how it handles... Suttle differences will make all the difference. A clean intake filter, mid pipe and delete, plugs gapped correctly, octane, etc...

You’re comparing apples to oranges. The Speedtech and Big Boost kits use ball bearing turbos with cast manifolds whereas the Pure PS2 uses the stock turbo housing and manifold with a larger journal bearing CHRA center section.
Here’s a thread I wrote on the M2 forum on the subject that may help with your turbo decision: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1561652 |
