HELP! First time mod/tuning

I got a 2016 M235i xdrive convertible and am looking to add some oomph. I will not race this car on a track. I will not race this car on the street. I would like to minimize mods that will create excessive wear. I just want to add a few mods for some hp for those occasions when I'm alone on a street and want to hit the gas and GRINNNNNNN! I'm fully into Burger tuning, but need some advice on if the following setup is overboard or if there's anything i should add to help avoid excess stress or wear from increased boost. Would REALLY appreciate your feedback:

BMS Performance Intake
BMS Double Baffle Oil Catch Can
BMS Sport Oil Cooler Valve
BMS Charge Pipe
AFE Catted Downpipe
JB4 Tuner
JB4 Blue Tooth Module

I'd start with the downpipe, charge pipes, and jb4

drop in air filter, if you want to buy a kit, get the dinan.

JB+ or Dinan Sport. 30hp and you will feel it.
200$

If you want to spend a little more, get a bm3 flash tune, you can run a stage 1 flash.
700$

add 2.5 gallons of e85.

Buy lighter wheels.

I'd say drop-in filter ($50), Dinan Sport Tune ($300) for the ability to control boost via BT from your phone, and upgrade your chargepipe ($225). For less than $600 you'll get a noticeable bump in power and you'll future proof the CP which is bound to eventually bust. Also, a simple remapping of your throttle with a throttle controller ($200) can make a world of difference in the way your car drives.

If u want the ability to increase power down the road bm3 is the way to go.

For ease of future power gains Jb4 is good, but bm3 better. Jb4 is a piggy back so the cars dme/ecu doesnt really know whats going on which can affect driveability. With bm3 (software flash tune) the actual software is rewritten so the car basically drives like stock but faster.

I beleive its $600 vs jb4s $530. If u buy the bm3 license new it can be resold once to whom ever. JB4 can be sold infinitely as its a physical harness.
Bm3 customer service is also insanely good. Do some research into it.

As someone whos owned and modified n55s for 5 years i would recommend starting with bm3 and metal charge pipe (the stock one will very likely break once power is upped). Intake too if u want the cool turbo sounds, but not necessary. Next step would be highflow down pipe witch will allow you to run a more aggressive bm3 map like stage 2. HIGHLY recommend getting a bigger intercooler at this point as the stock one will heatsoak very quickly at higher boost levels and kill power.

Thats about all u need to make over 400hp

Hi OP,
If you are using JB4, get the Fabspeed downpipe instead of AFE.

AFE will throw a code and JB4 does not auto clear the CEL.

OP: suggest you start off with BM3. Stage 1 "93 Octane" and '"55-EWG." Keep an eye out for the OE plastic charge pipe. They're the Achilles Heel and known to fail in time. From there you can decide to move forward with the other hardware mods. Intakes other than sound effects are not essential to Stage 2 mods. Save your money and go with a K&N drop-in filter instead.

I had the Active Autowerke Flash Tune on my M235i in addition to an Injen Intake (just for fun sounds). Flash tune was phenomenal, I can't recommend it enough. Smoother than stock (and definitely any JB4 application), a large jump in power that was still controllable, and I actually gained a little over 1MPG despite driving a bit more aggressively. This was as much power as 90% of people will ever want or need. It turned it into a tamable street car with tons of power on tap when you want it. Not overly aggressive, didn't kill my tires, and the install is a breeze.

You need the SIMON 3 cord and the flash tune is done straight from your laptop. Nothing to leave plugged in, you can flash back to stock or to other tunes in less than 5 minutes. Super simple, straight forward process. I'm selling my old SIMON 3 cord on the forums, happy to cut you a bigger discount to help out.
