Hahaha I would never be able to look at it that long without installing Can anyone else comment on the smelly cold starts? Just turned my car on after a week and it was especialllly smelly, though it seems to just be smelly in general on every cold start. It is concerning considering it's a 300 cell and not rly supposed to smell as per the product description.

It's been a while with the downpipe and I like the sound but it would be nice if active autowerke would reach out to me... Does anyone know the best way of contacting them? I really don't like that this downpipe smells so much. It was $900 and marketed as a no smell/no cel alternative to having more sound. It's lived up to its name so far in no cel but not no smell. I'm getting worried that my dealer will say something during service. If it didn't smell like I was told it wouldn't, then I wouldn't be as worried as there's no cel either and they probably wouldn't say anything. But with how much it smells I think they definiely would. Again, the smell is mostly on cold start but pretty much always present. Not really happy that I spent all that money and it smells so much. I tried to get over the smell but at that price I really think it was a waste of money. I've posted about it a few times but Mike just said it may be installed wrong and never replied again about it..... :/

Did you try calling them? They are open Monday to Friday.

They are going to ask you to double check the install for any leaks so make sure you do that before you call

Will do thank you. How exactly would I go about testing this? I don't really get any smell coming from the front of the car just the back. I assume it's not leaking as I don't have a CEL but it is smelly...

Check for leaks, the downpipe has to sit flush ... Even the smallest gap can create a fuel smell. Also, make sure the gasket used is new

I did get the new gasket. I don't rly suspect bad install because I don't remember it smelling this much when it was first installed. It seemed to gradually get smellier to the point it's really obvious now. I can get it checked but I just already paid $150 for the initial install, will have to pay them to check for leaks, and if it's a cat failure will have to pay again to put the OEM one on. Ugggg

Plugged in MHD to read codes and I see this code for the cat even though there was no cel or anything popping up on my car. Just a lot of smell. Do you think the cat has failed? Should I contact AA? And do you think they'll do anything for me in regard to the $150 i paid to install it, the $150 I will have to pay to remove it, and the $150 to install a new one. Not sure how the cat failed.... car is not flashed and burbles are stock.

Will do. Thanks for being responsive as usual Hope this gets resolved soon. It's so weird to me that there's a code in the DME when I check with MHD code reader but I haven't gotten any codes to pop up on my dash to warn me.

Called them and they're closed.. Whats a good number or place to reach them at..? I can email as well. I want to get this resolved before an upcoming service visit.

Let them know that there are some of us following this thread and our decisions to purchase the same downpipe will be influenced by your results on this matter.

Please keep in mind that hundreds of these downpipes are being used without any issues. kianf22 Might be the only reported CEL for with active on a BMW

Of course, I'm very much the reasonable consumer. I'm also a data guy, so if this is an anomaly, I'll not worry too much. I'd like to see that AA addresses this issue so that I can have confidence in buying as a consumer.

Called on tuesday during office hours. Their automation says the office is closed. They did not answer. Left my email in the support contact request on their website and have not seen an email from them yet. Called again today and their office is closed again.

Thanks I will. I hope it's clear that I am in no way trying to sit here and bash AA. My car sounds killer and I love it and have gotten many compliments on how my car sounds with this downpipe and my exhuast system. Just posting my issue up trying to see if it's normal. Saw that it wasn't, looking into seeing what's wrong. Will update on my experience Mike has been really responsive and helpful with the issues I've been having, just trying to contact AA now. Ive been wanting to do some more mods but have been in limbo because I'm trying to get this resolved first. grrr
