Four new tires

I was due for a new set of Michelin PSS tires so after I blew one in an unanticipated encounter with a kerb, I took the opportunity to get all of them replaced and an alignment done.

Do new tires have to be "broken in" in any way?

Yes, 500km / 300 miles of normal driving to wear off the mould release compounds is the normal recommendation to get to maximum grip.
