can your scan tool read live data?

best bet if it can, is to read the voltage values for the 02 in question [upstream or downstream] and referencing what those values should be for a good 02 sensor.

P0036 is the heater circuit for the upstream O2. The heating element fried itself. Get a new one. Replace it. Diy is a few min with the right tools. Upstream O2 needs to be maintained and feeds the ECU for engine performance.

The research that I did said that o2 sensor technology hasn't changed in decades and more $$ isn't worth it. I got a $30 sensor from Amazon. Works great.
