Will the LSD ever go on sale again?

I seem to remember that a couple of years ago the LSD went on sale for under $2k.
I can't justify getting it for $3k all in but closet to $2k I could.

Also, BMW - since you are limited on car production because of chips, maybe this would be a good idea to sell a couple thousand discounted differentials. Would also give your service departments some extra work.

I've been looking to find one of these as well. I've noticed that sometimes dealers have specials on parts. For example, BMW of Silver Spring has a 15% off right now but I havent inquired yet.

I'd guess closer to 100...worldwide. My assumption is that most who would be interested already have one.

I don't have the part number for the manual M240 LSD and can't find it (they are local to me).

Never mind, I found it.
$2,300, so probably just over $3000 installed with tax

Ahh that doesnt sound too crazy tbh.

I was thinking about having it installed, but I havent had the chance to take my car to autocross yet. Figured I'd take it to some events first and then decide on if I wanna drop the money. lol

So I just bought one for my auto 240i rwd. Originally ordered at bmwpartsnow who then told me that there are non available from bmw USA or bmw Germany with no estimate on new production either. They were able to send me a short list of dealerships that may have them in stock. I got lucky with one I called. Overall seems to be a very rare part these days. I would try to source one soon if possible. Otherwise I was looking into ordering the unit from Birds in UK which I believe is the quaife

No more LSD available

I may have bought the last LSD available in the country. It shipped from Jacksonville, FL. My BMW service advisor said it was the last one.

I finally pulled the trigger for mine a little more than a month ago. Best decision I finally made. It was reading a lot of dradernh posts that convinced me.

I think you might benefit from the LSD at an autocross. I've noticed the "eDiff" (DSC off mode) has a slight delay in detecting wheelspin and applying the brake to that wheel. A real LSD will put the power down better exiting those tight turns.

Yea, I think I'm gonna go ahead and pick it up. I did my first event last weekend, and it was a blast, but now I'm curious how much better it could be. I called my local dealer up and apparently no LSD options comes up within their system for the 2021. Need to do some research now.

Dan at diffsonline.com can likely answer any questions you might have.
