I struggled with this when I first bought my car, especially at Costco. It seems like many manufacturers have this issue with newer cars.

The trick I've found is do not push the nozzle all the way down the filler neck. Insert it just to the point where there is tension when you release your hand. This has completely cleared up the issue for me.

My 2016 M235 with around 50K miles has now developed a weird starting issue where it nearly stalls on a stone cold start. It's been doing this for nearly a week now. No codes. Runs perfectly otherwise. Same 93 octane fuel as always, spark plugs (OEM replacements) were changed about 7k miles ago, new OEM air filter, and no changes in mods in over a year. No vacuum or charge pipe leaks.

The only « weird » issue I had…. wasn’t that weird. The after-effects from it were weird, and if I hadn’t been on warranty, I would’ve cursed them!

Car was pretty new, only a few months old, maybe 5000km done.

Driving normally. Stopping at a red light. Hear a clunk…. battery light turns on. Uh oh, alternator is not charging anymore. Drove home which luckily was about 3km away.

Get it towed…

I was just dealing with that on my car too. Other than the breather, the usual suspect is the charcoal canister -- especially if it's gotten fuel-soaked.

I just replaced the canister and the breather coming out of it on my car this weekend. But it didn't fix it. While I was there, was surprised to see a second breather (#16137377649) coming out directly from the tank (doesn't that defeat the purpose of the evap capture?). Guess that's the next item on the chopping block.

I had an issue with the clutch in my 2018 M240i. Pressing the clutch in certain circumstances would produce a weird "vibration" in the clutch pedal. It felt as if one of the pressure plate's spring mechanisms was binding. I took to the dealer and the service manager and a tech both drove the car. BMW NA authorized the replacement of the clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. There was a burned spot on the face of the pressure plate. The car had less than 3000 miles on the clock.

That's useful to know, thanks for sharing your experience.

**UPDATE**
The dealer finally found the problem. There was a collapsed hose in the filling tube that restricted the gas flow. Hope this helps with those with similar problem.

Garage List
Once in a while, my side mirrors won't adjust back after getting out of reverse. It really puts me on edge when I notice it minutes later while attempting to merge onto the highway (when the driver's side flakes out). Big neck cramps afterwards and fixing the mirror afterwards while on the highway is not fun either.

Has this ever happened to anybody?

I would check that the reversing light switch hasn't stuck in the on position, by confirming that the reversing lights are not still on if you can when the mirror doesn't return, perhaps by stopping and having a passenger take a look while it is still in gear, if possible.

I had a parking sensor pop out the other day. They put it back in to the tune of $575. And a few days later another one popped out. I took the car back today with the hopes they agree the second one was their error and they fix it for free. Cause im not paying for it.

My indy found diff fluid leaking out. I took it in to my local dealership - they told me the diff is considered to be "sweating" so they won't re-seal it or replace it.

They took a video of the inspection and zoomed in on things such as the tire treads, brake pads, etc. but conveniently left out the diff and more importantly, the muffler.

The diff fluid is definitely leaking because the fluid flies backwards while the car is in motion and has been landing on the muffler, which was drenched. They didn't zoom in on that or the diff at all.

My CPO warranty ends June 2022 and is good for unlimited miles, so it's not a question of if but when I'll go back to have them fix or replace it.

At least a few others with the same issue but had them replaced stated that post-replacement or fix, the diff no longer "sweat."

Thanks for sharing, it was the short hose between the metal filler tube and the tank for me too.

First time I've seen hose fail like that. Looked perfectly fine and round on the outsude, but the inside was completely messed up and blocking most of it. Like, some massive air bubble trapped between the layers of hose.

My right rear turn signal fails in the manner described by several (Intermittently "double flashing" usually resets itself and returns to normal operation. Very occasionally needs to have the engine shut off for a couple minutes to fix). I'm taking it to the dealer next week. Any suggestions what I should say to "service advisor" to motivate him to have the techs look carefully and thoroughly? 2019 F23. Thanks

It should leave a stored code. If you have a code reader you can check yourself, otherwise be sure they do it.

Twice, the turn signal blinked super rapidly and then stopped. An error message showed that there was a rear left turn signal problem. Then it went away. It was raining. Don't know if that had anything to do with it. I don't remember if it was raining the first time it did it about a year ago. Is there a wiring problem?
Just noticed that all three people reporting this here have 2019s. Hmm.

It's probably something pushing on the fob in your pocket. As to why this frequency is decreasing over time, well ...

Technically it was a collision. Hit a chunk of solid ice from a dump truck a month or two ago. It was short enough to clear the bumper but tall enough to take out my secondary radiator's side overflow reservoir (I didn't know that was a thing but it is). It was solid ice so it didn't break when I hit it. I dragged it about 100 ft before I could pull over and pry it out.

Car was operable until it was fixed, thanks to the freezing temps, but no intake cooling system or AC. Since the radiator systems are sandwiched together, both were dented and damaged and needed replacing (~$800 in parts each, plus other misc damaged plastic bits).

A bit more to the right, and the front corner of the suspension would've been taken out.

Car's fixed now anyways. Fresh rads, mounts, etc.

I changed my front and rear rotors and pads over the weekend. Afterwards, I took the car out for a drive and to set the pads and the seatbelt warning light and chime was on for several blocks. I unbuckled and buckled few times while driving but that didn't fix the issue. I eventually came to a full stop at a light so I unbuckled and buckled again and both the light and the chime went away. No idea what caused it.

Oh. And the iDrive...
It sometimes defaults at startup to a screen that I didn't leave it on and don't care to see (system settings or some other BS list of options that I'd need to select from before seeing anything useful).

It's annoying. But there are much more annoying things in life that I seem to handily ignore, so...
