Can anyone who installed this downpipe chime in on what tools were needed for install? Mating it to the remus catback so not sure if that changes things. I saw "exhaust/pipe expansion tool" written a few different places but is it necessary for install? Shop I planned on taking it to doesn't have the tool. Also was quoted $165 for the install... seems pretty fair... right?

I think if anything this AA downpipe with an MPE should sound something like this. This is with HJS but 300 cell as well

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_EkqG26mS0

I'm guessing in comfort/eco it's pretty close to stock, Mike can you confirm if that's accurate?

Not sure about MPE but I can let you know how it sounds with remus non resonated catback soon

Just received my AA catted downpipe with gasket! Thanks again Mike! Was surprised to see the bracket, didn't think this downpipe came with one but glad it did. Will update once I get it installed!
Looks really good quality!

Hey guys, I paid a local shop to install the AA catted downpipe on my F30 340i. After 500ish miles, I got a CEL. I have MPPSK, no other tunes or mods. Just MPPSK and Active Autowerke’s catted downpipe. Anyone else experience a CEL? I’m really bummed because I spent $1k because of the no CEL guarantee... yet I still got one, and I’m short $300 on the install.

I’m also open to ideas on how to get rid of the CEL. I’m seeing mixed reviews on the O2 spacer (L and straight) on the B58. Some say it works, other say it doesn’t.

Hi,
I recommend reading the code first to make sure it's from the downpipe.

Please update soon. Mine hasn't been on for more than 100 miles and now i'm worried. Please update if you get the chance to check the code. I too paid the steep price for the no cel gaurantee, I could do the same with a cheaper downpipe and O2 spacer.

Loving it so far, but I thought I would drive around on it a little more before giving my final opinions. I really hope I don't pop a cell, as originally I wanted to go with the CG downpipe because they had over 10k miles without cel but AA gauaranteed the same thing and was in stock so I went with them. In other words if I pop a CEL I won't be keeping it, hope it doesn't though. I can post some sound clips soon but keep in mind they will all be with remus exhuast as well

VSRF can pop a CEL - there's posts if you search. Double check all your clamps are tight and well fitting as that can lead to a CEL also.

Yes I know. I have the AA catted like you with the no cel gaurantee and so does the guy up there that says he got a CEL (although code isn't confirmed) point was though if i get a CEL on this it's not worth the price tag for me so I'd get a cheaper one with an O2 spacer. But you would hope that they stick to the "NO CEL GAURANTEE" (in capital letters) that they advertise as that's why I spent the extra money over the cheaper alternatives. Don't plan on tuning for a while so a CEL is unacceptable.

I made another post about my AA catted downpipe CEL issue in the B58 thread, but basically the code was a P0420, I reset it but it came back after a couple hundred miles. I order an L shape spacer and will see if that fixes it... if not I might try replacing the O2 sensor. If these alternatives fail I’m going to revert back to stock and ask for a refund because the no CEL guaranteed was not delivered obviously. Pretty disappointed. Sounds really good tho... but like you mentioned, not worth the price if there’s a CEL.

Completely agree with your POV. Not familiar with the code but I wouldn't even be satisfied if the O2 spacer fixes it because I could just do that on a cheaper $500 catted downpipe and save the money. I wouldn't have done the downpipe without the gaurantee though. I bought it as an install and forget part, as it was advertised, so I hope it doesn't cause me any trouble. Please update if anything new comes up. If you end up going back to stock and the CEL is from the downpipe, I would really hope Active Autowerke honors their gaurantee.

If I had to do it all over again I def would’ve went for a cheaper cat, but I’m also considering the hassle of removing the dp and reinstalling another one (and the sunk cost of paying someone to install the current AA, ugh). I hear you tho, next time I will be very skeptical of any DP claims of “NO CEL GUARANTEED”... will keep everyone updated with whether or not the spacer works.

I paid $165 to have mine installed Id probably have to pay the same to remove it as well. Don't think you'll get that money back :/ I wonder what kind of testing they've done to make that no cel guarantee if your CEL popped up so fast... I hope they compensate you and make it right. If they don't and I have issues as well I'll be very weary of purchasing from them and anyone who recommended me their part. Going to hope for the best though because it sounds amazing and I haven't personally had any issues yet.

What did you notice that changed after you installed it vs. the stock dp? How is the throttle in the different modes and sound changes?

Hey I'm glad to share but keep in mind I am running on stock tune and have the remus exhuast and AP intake paired with it. After installing the downpipe, cold starts are loud but sound reaaally good. Don't expect anything too crazy performance wise with stock tune but you are helping the car breathe better. The DP makes the up shift farts and burbles much more crisp and louder. They're pops now as opposed to burbles. At times I can also hear a turbo spool noise and i'm happy with that considering i'm not catless. Have been getting some gas smell recently especially right after starting but it goes away and it's more of a gas smell than a poison smell you'd have from catless and i actually like it. I feel like there was a little break-in period like most other exhuast mods so it sounds better as it breaks in. Love how the car sounds right now. Don't have a CEL and hope that it won't come on as gauranteed. Hoping to see power improvements once i decide what tuning platform to go with hope this helps
