Sounds amazing !

You don't need an exhaust system anymore ! Any drone so far ???

I'm wondering how the M240i MPE would sound with this resonator-delete setup.... Maybe more likely to drone since it doesn't have valve ??
Thanks!

Yeah I'm sure an mpe would make it sound amazing but the drone is what I'm afraid of. Well that and the $1300 with tips I could put towards other stuff lol. As of right now though, no drone whatsoever, and the overrun in sport mode is just amazing. Tons of pops all the way thru 5th gear. Gonna try to set up a GoPro and get some driving time for you guys to hear it.

I'm getting mine done today. I have an ER Catless Downpipe installed too so it will be interesting to see/hear the difference.

Its good to see that even BMW sales consultants getting into the aftermarket downpipe game. I wish mine would get into that game. Then I might not worry so much about my CA flagging my car when I bring in my car.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the aftermarket scene but deleting a resonator requires cutting the resonators out and welding in a new resonator correct? So is this destructive and non-reversible? I'm on a lease but man I wish the B58 was louder.

Yes, you have to cut both resonators and get the pipe welded. You can always do the opposite process and install the resonators back.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'ts just a tube after all....

I'm on a lease as well. Do it. You will not regret it man, I'm telling you. The sound is 100% better, hands down. I kept the resonators just in case I don't buy the car at lease end.

The lack of a valve shouldn't matter. The valve is only closed during cold start. After warm up it stays open.

I'd like to hear it with just the front resonator removed. Anyone tried that yet?

As far as i know, the valve is controlled by the ECU depending of the throttle or driving mode, not just during cold start.

I tested it on mine with the car stationary and it was always closed on cold startup and always open after warm up, regardless of mode. I suppose it's possible that the ECU is closing it while driving in certain modes, but that's not my understanding of how it works. I think it is only used to restrict exhaust flow during cold startup to heat up the cat as quickly as possible. However I could be wrong.

If it is anything like the the M3/m4 ones, they open up if you are in sport mode for a few minutes after it warms up. But if you aren't in sport mode, it won't open.

Look into OC muffler man in placentia. I don't have my car yet but plan on going there when I do. I did a catback install there and they did a great job. I imagine they can do resonator/muffler deletes too.

When I went to disconnect the valve I decided to look at the valve before driving around in sport mode and it was already open, so I just disconnected it. Did not previously drive in sport, only comfort. So it'll open in comfort too just not sure what I did to make it happen.

Does anyone know if removal of both resonators or installing an straigth-tube midpipe negatively affects performance in terms of power or torque ??

I ask that because of this video....

3 questions:

Will doing this on a lease affect warranties in any way? Clearly the shops will notice when you bring it in for service.

Additionally, is it completely reversible? I'd guess $200 to do this and $200 to bring it back to stock? (Keep the resonators) upon lease return/swap?

And, will I still pass NYS emissions testing?
