Damn it looks good!

How much did the Arma Intake set you back? Im aware that Rencal is one of their big distributors, We're you looking at other intakes when going ahead with this (If so why Arma) or just went with Arma?

Other then that! Car looks fantastic mate!

Thanks mate.. I had considered the bms intake also, but there have been posts of issues, so didn't want to take the chance. Vince from Rencal then suggested the Arma and when I saw the physical product I was sold.. The finish is really nice on the carbon fibre. From memory it was around $1k..

The intake is really just for looks and the "whoosh" (the BMS intake would be much louder as its open).

Installed the Bimmertech amp on the weekend.

Fantastic improvement in bass and clarity!

Cannot wait to start tuning this thing

On the left is the stock hifi amp.

Car looks great. Really like that real spoiler.
Not a fan of the decals personally.
On that note i do think painting the bottom section of the front lip the same color as the car then gloss black for the rest would look good.

Yep $1k for the amp shipped, I don't have HK just hifi. I agree the stock hifi sound system is very average.

This amp works with both hifi and HK options for the F22. I retrofitted Focal speakers (front door + door sail tweeters), which are better than the HK speakers. I kept the rear speakers stock though.

Yeah they're quite well known.

There are a few threads around the 2er forums on them. Or google Focal IFBMW-S, it's a plug and play kit for BMW.

I didn't realise you were in Brissy - I am southside too so if you want to come check out the stereo you're welcome to.

I haven't dyno'ed it but I have no complaints and it looks good.

I haven't used AFE so I don't know. Why don't you ask mike since he sells both?

Might follow you and upgrade the sound system next, as I also only have hifi and not HK in my car... Have always looked into getting the focal kit for BMW... Unsure about amps (not have knowledgeable on aftermarket sounds).

Where did you get them from? How much? Diy or better professionally installed?

I bought Focals off eBay for $550 delivered (new). Should be easy to find it, it's from a local retailer. You will also need the door sail tweeter housing since the Hifi doesn't system have them. They're sold with HK tweeters inside for about $150 a pair from Schmiedmann.

There are videos from Focal and from Bavsound that will help with install. You could also dynamat the doors while you're at it, but I didn't as I was lazy.

I bought the amp from Bimmertech. There are a few other options but I think Bimmertech is currently one of the best options in terms of quality and ease of installation (although it's about $1,000). There's a long thread on the F30 forums about the amp. I downloaded some new tune files from the F30 thread the other day and it's a big improvement over stock.

The arma speed is expensive because it includes a full carbon fibre airbox and tubing, replacing the stock airbox.

It is a cold air "closed" system rather than an open air intake like Burger or AFE intakes (which some say lead to heat soak).

I ended up not buying Burger or AFE because some people have had issues with them and I find the "open" intake sound too loud.

If you don't want to spend so much on an intake, I'd recommend you just get a drop-in filter.

With Arma intake does it need to be tuned or anything or plug im bam all good? Also being closed does it have much sound improvement?

You don't have to get a tune, but if you don't you won't see any performance increase. Then again intakes aren't going to give a massive boost in performance, maybe a few kw... mostly you won't feel it at all unless you dyno it. I am running a JB4 on map 2.

The sound is louder than stock for sure, but quieter than an open intake.
