I was just quoted $400.00 to replace a corroded strap by the dealership (228iX out of warranty). Seems outlandish to me - easy to access, $50 part...anyone else?

I have always replace straps like that when they fail with a left over peace of car stereo power wire and crimped and solder on ring terminals. If you have a local car stereo shop near buy they will likely have a peace of scrap wire from an install that they could crimp some ends on for under $20 it will be better than oem

Replace it yourself, it takes a few minutes. Pull on the cable with some force to see if it rips. I've seen ground straps that look perfect but disintegrate the moment you touch them.

Ignore the above advice, stick with oem for this cable.

please explain how an oem braided ground strap could be any better than using a peace of high quality ground cable in this application. It will flex well and do to the high quality of a silicone based cover will not degrade like the pictured ground wire leading to increased resistance and failure of the ground.
