This is a replacement "Mickey Mouse" coolant hose for the N55 engines, which attaches to the thermostat housing, on the lower portion of the engine bay. The flange for this hose is made out of plastic and known to naturally fail due to becoming dry and brittle over time and leave your vehicle stranded. This hose is an unused an OEM piece, hose and flange in one and is suggested that it is replaced every 40,000 miles as a preventative maintenance measure or when the thermostat is removed or replaced.
