No Exhaust Love for the 228i
I'm surprised at the lack of performance exhaust systems for the 228i in non-M Sport Guise. I would venture to say that more plain or sport line 228's are on the road than M-Sport versions.
I would think this would be a wide-open area, but I appear to be wrong. To date the only exhaust I can find that adds some deep growl is the M Performance for the 3 series, and what BMW is asking is way out of line in my opinion. I believe a vast majority of us are not looking for a "track" solution, just some additional burble and belching for an otherwise great driving vehicle. I envision myself blasting down winding county roads and listening to my little 4 gargle and belch as I blap through the gears.... Anyway, just venting...nothing worse than driving a cab and not being able to enjoy my exhaust note... |

Try and find a used MPE. Should be around $600. Borla and Magnaflow make an exhaust for the 328. I don't know why they wouldn't fit the 228. Should be around $600 for a full cat back system. Less for just the muffler. Last edited by 2msport; 06-23-2015 at 11:57 AM.. |

Why would be surprised the 128 is still lacking in the exhaust department.
The 228 are rare to find. A 228 owner looking for upgrades is even harder.

Contact ARK Performance. There's a member on here that has a prototype kit from them on his 228i (full exhaust : Downpipe back)

Active autowerkes makes an affordable axleback that fits the f30 328 as well as the 228 non m. Supersprint has racing and sport mufflers that fit non-m sport bumpers as well.

If that is the case, this is the most popular exhaust for the 328 chassis.

I emailed a rep from active auto and he confirmed for me that their exhaust will fit with slight modifications, most likely hanger adjustment or cutting of the pipe an inch or 2

I believe Eisenmann will be releasing a 228i exhaust towards the end of this year.
