For those who were hoping for a next-ger 2er ragtop

Looks like we'll have to settle for the upcoming next-gen 4-series (G23) ragtop available early spring 2021.

Z4 will tempt me but my xDrive is key to having only the number of cars that will fit in the garage.

I had a 4 series as a loaner. Too big for me but a matter of taste.

I hear you, but my "problem" is being 6'5" with grandkids 8 & 10 yrs old.
They're here every other weekend and already a tight fit, so regardless of whether or not there were to be a next-gen 2er cabrio, I'd have to opt for a 4er, or C43 or S5 ragtop.

Garage List
My heart says I'll want to replace my beloved M235i with a 718 Boxster S or the Z4 M40i when the time comes. That said, I am certain a similarly equipped Boxster will be an easy $5-10K more than the Z4, and the Z4 will still be pretty pricey. Even more importantly, one of the reasons the Boxster is such a great car is because it's just inches off the ground. My wife and I are only in our mid 50's, but I know I'd hear her tell me how hard it was to get in and out of the Boxster every time we drove it. It's one of a few reasons I chose the M235i over the Boxster this time. I am hoping the Z4 won't be quite as hard to get in and out of. If it is, I think I'd be fine with the new M440i or even possibly an M4 Cabriolet. While it's tough to discern much from the spy photos, everything I have seen or read about the new 4 Series vert is very promising. I really like the look of the soft top. it's very smooth and well shaped and much better looking than the soft tops on our 2 Series verts in my opinion. I also really like the look of the soft top on the Z4.

In a moment of weakness on the weekend I bought a 2018 M24oxi ragtop.
Take delivery towards the end of this week after they tint the windows 50%.
My son is getting my 2016 M235xi ragtop.
That'll hold me 'til the nextgen 4er cabrio is available in the Spring of 2021.

Are you saying the 2 series vert is being discontinued?

A couple of weeks ago you posted in a different thread that "the official EOP date for the current gen 2er coupe (F22) and ragtop (F23) is Oct 2021 - that's 2.5 years beyond the EOP of 02/19 for the 2019 MY 2er."

I take that to mean that the 2 series vert is going to be available for at least the next 3 years.

2 series ragtop discontinued

I'm confused. The link in the OP describes the new 4 series ragtop and doesn't say anything about the 2 series being discontinued. Am I missing something here?

Yes, yes and yes.
Yes, I did post that the the official EOP for the current gen 2er coupe and ragtop is Oct 2021 (and that is correct).
Yes, I did post that the EOP for the 2019 MY 2er production ends in Feb, 2019 (and that is correct). But there will be a 2020 and 2021 MY current-gen 2ers (coupe and Cabrio).
Yes, there will not be a next-gen 2er cabriolet - based on numerous insider reports.

Sadly, it appears that the 2er cabriolet is being discontinued at the end of this gen production run.

thanks for the quick reply. It's good news that there will be a 2020 and 2021 2 series ragtop as the summer of 2020 was when I was planning on getting my next one.
