I've never had a car in the US before (lived 25 years in NYC without a car), so I am now trying to figure out the ins and outs of car maintenance here.

Do you guys only take your car for service at a BMW dealer or are there reliable garages that we can go that don't charge an arm and a leg like the dealers do?

I have an oil and brake fluid change coming and was wondering what would be the best way to do it?

Coming from Brazil, sometimes depending on the job the dealer would do a worse job than a specialized place (wheel balance/alignement for example), so I am trying to figure out how does this work here in the US!

For regional stuff like in LA, I recommend you to lookup socal bmw LA(you can look from facebook or instagram). They have a discord group where you can ask stuff like this and you will get more response than in this forum.
