Best audio upgrade options for non-HK 230i?

No. You're effectively bypassing the head unit.

Try www.crutchfield.com to see what fits are far as the speakers NOT on the front doors. You'll need to buy the sails. Here are the BMW part #s:

Found some on ebay for $130, is it possible to add the sail only to the non upgraded harman kardon? Would that bring any benefit?

The sails hold the tweeters. If you're going with 2-way speaker that have the tweeter built into the mid speaker you do not need new sails.

I enjoy my music and listen to everything from jazz to acoustic to classic rock. I purchased the Bavsound speaker kit and the sub kit. I was honestly not expecting much and figured I would end up sending it all back. 1.5 hour install for everything and I would buy them 10 out of 10 times. The difference is huge.

I had VisualIce in the UK make me an enclosure, he can do convertible (like mine) or coupe. The quality is very good and the price cannot be beat. Check him out, his name is Murray and he's really good to work with.
