Tint + Exterior Aesthetic Installs - Philadelphia
Got my car a couple days ago and am ready to just go all out with stuff I want to do. Looking for any guidance on shops that are reputable in the Philly area to:
- tint - trunk spoiler, rear diffuser, front lip, side skirt install |

Shades of Grey does a nice job on tint. Since your car is new and under warranty I'd stick with Thompson BMW for any work.

Second for Shades of grey- they've done all my cars for the past 10 years.

Maybe use that saved money on a set of mirror caps. |

thanks for the Shades of Grey recommendation.
If I was skilled enough, I would install the mods but it's just not my thing. I always mess it up. |

The side skirts are a mixture of tape and screws. Line it up, take off the tape, drill in the holes to keep it there. The rear diffuser just bolts right up. Well, that is, if you bought the m performance one. The front lip is the same as the rear diffuser, except maybe needing to use some colored tape to hide color gaps on the bumper. It'll be in the packaging. If you bought all m performance parts, everything should be super basic to install. Just take your time, watch some tutorials, and pat yourself on the back for the accomplishment afterwards. We all start somewhere. I couldn't tell you the number of times I've royally messed up. We all do. |

If you haven't gotten the M Perf lip yet, check out the Lightweight one. Much better IMO.
https://europeanautosource.com/light...-2-series.html The logo comes off if you don't want it, Cat at IND can source for you. If you can use a screwdriver you can install it easily yourself. You remove two factory screws in the center, replace them with two new ones from Lightweight. Then just work your way out from center installing self tapping screws as you go.

Pushing this topic back up to ask about PA inspections and tint. Since PA laws are so ridiculous (70% tint), how have you guys gotten around that with darker tints?
I was about to pull the trigger on ~ 35% sides and rear but now am very hesitant. |

in NJ there are no tints allowed on the front windows ....0
I drove with 5% on my X2 for 2 years without any issues. I may have gotten the side eye a couple of times but never pulled over! It depends on the cop but, I'm assuming that most aren't looking for tint violations but if they do pull someone over for that it's "probable cause". I just got a 228i that I'll probably be doing 35% on in the next few weeks. |
