As a follow up on the rock guards. Cars produced after Dec. 2017 were supposed to be fitted with rock guards from the factory. To retrofit the rock guards you MUST buy the new style mounts to attach the guards. Having said that, I am sure it is possible to modify the existing non-guard mount to work, after all, anything is possible with a little creativity.

It can't be difficult at all. Best case, the under panel has to come off to get to the cooler. Worst case is the bumper cover also has to come off. The panel comes off in a 2 minutes and the bumper, maybe 15 minutes. The coolant needs to be drained (10 minutes, maybe). Then it's a matter of removing the two clips from the cooler connections, and removing the cooler. Then affix the guards and then refill with coolant. BMW has made it crazy easy to burp the cooling system as you add coolant. It's all automated. Check Youtube for a number of videos.

Cars have gotten more complicated, but I wouldn't say they are impossible to work on. They are more crammed under the hood and more stuff has to come out, but everything tends to come a part easier and go back together nicely. The biggest issue is troubleshooting certain electrical systems. In those cases, you'd need expensive computers and/or experience using the BMW ISTA. You may also need a few specialty tools to work on certain things.

Custom shifter beanie installed! It's stupid for sure, but I needed something to remind me when the battery tender was plugged in. There's no way I will just drive off with the car plugged into the wall now.

Hey guys,

Was curious if anybody had any wings installed and any photos? The 2 Series seems like the perfect car for a wing. Was looking at an M Performance wing but they're 2500$ lol

I can recommend the '203' wing from DJ Racecars. I had one on another BMW and it produced quite a bit of downforce.

Love it! I'm surprised you don't see stories about people with hybrids or electric cars trying to drive off with their cars plugged in!

What did I do to my car today? I drove straight in the right lane. What did the other guy do to my car? Pull out of a parallel parking space without looking to see if anyone (namely me) was approaching. I felt the car jerk to the right and heard/felt a loud bang. Thought I hit a huge pothole at first until I saw a car in my rear view mirror pulling out with the front bumper partially removed. Initial point of contact was on my right front wheel (probably aft of the axle, which would explain why I felt the wheel turn to the right and only had damage on one spot on the front wheel), then dragged down the length of the car and got the rear right wheel in a couple of spots as well.

Now I have to deal with the insurance agent trying to pin the blame on me. Great.

That's BS. Like you drove your car sideways into a guy pulling out of a spot. Give me a freakin' break. Fool wasn't looking when he pulled out. End of.

I just did my break in oil change at 1,800 miles. Overall not difficult at all. Did not have to remove any underbelly panels. There is a trap door you can open and the 17mm drain plug is right in the middle.

The oil filter is in a tight place. Now that I have done it once it will be easier the second time around. A swivel socket is the key.

I have some left over Audi 508/509 spec. ow20 left over from my S5. I figured if it is approved by Audi for the S5(also turbo) then it should be fine for the M240i. Besides I plan to have the oil change every 5k miles.

A friend stopped by and we installed Euro LCI lights on his 2017 and coded them as well as adding the digital speedo in the cluster and coding easy entry/exit.

62° here today; and I hear you – that's generally how long it takes me as well.

Nice! What year is that? How fast is it and what is the mpg? What does diesel fuel cost these days in London? These are not available here. Are they still being made for the UK?

Ahh Jersey Street in the Fenway area am I correct? Used to live down that street and drive by twice a day driving my wife in and picking her up every day. Hate these idiot Boston Drivers. Just got my car back after over 2 months in the shop from an accident I had a mile down the street from you. Lady cuts into my lane and slams her brakes on the Jamaicaway when she realized couldn't make the exit. Guess who insurance blamed for rear ending her...

Good Luck...

Where does their rear bar go?

Do you have a link?

Damn! Good eye! I was actually on Boylston St, I just turned off onto Jersey Street to to avoid blocking traffic. The other driver admitted to pulling out of a parking space, and by MA law, he is 100% at fault. But, I am now without my car for the next 3 weeks while it's in the body shop. So what did I do to my car today? Nothing. Same thing I'll be doing with it for the next two+ weeks now.

Sorry to hear about your issues. My wife complains that I use my horn too much. It's because of idiots like the one you encountered that make me think I don't use it enough. I'm hoping my car doesn't get stuck in the shop for 2 months like yours!
