Weight of stock M235i wheels?
Hi. I did a couple of searches, but could not find the answer on here. Does anyone know the weight of our stock wheels?

Seems like the winter wheels I'm considering are 10 pounds per wheel lighter. That's going to make a pretty big difference in unsprung weight, but then again, I don't know the weight of my winter tires. |

I've turned into a bit of a weight weenie since discovering how much more performance and handling you gain by lowering unsprung rotating weight. Dyno results show real gains in WHP and TQ. My wheels are these: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=36117852489 weigh in at 11.585 KG or 25.54 lbs I am going to be replacing the stock (square) set up w/ OZ Ultraleggera in silver @ 18.6 lbs Dumping the Stock Pirelli Cinturato P7 All seasons or a set of General Max AS-05 @ 20 lbs each Net weight saving over stock will be 35.6 lbs Dyno comparisons where that much unsprung weight is shed show gains of at least 8 WHP and 9 WTQ or a bit better if you don't add wider tires. https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...orsepower.html |

Compared to other UHP AS I have tried (Conti & Michelin), they felt "squirrely" on turn-in, "squishy"/"uncertain" in the turn and they were the noisiest, by far. I was happy to get them off the car and would not buy them again.

Interesting.................
I was on the Tire Rack website and saw their review on The General Max. Got really good marks overall. These tires are new as of May 2017...not the old G Max https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=238 Video https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=238 My understanding the Generals use the Conti technology in their build so the tires compare favorably. I have some Conti Extremem Sport DW's on my Mini and they perform great. |

Interesting. Mine came in F - 48#, R - 51# when weighed on a doctor's balance beam scale. That was after 2K of use on the tires.

For a summer tyre with a 0.2m tread width and 2.0m circumference (225/40-18 meets that criteria) , assuming about one-third void volume, then each mm of tread wear weighs about 0.3kg, or about 2kg for tread wear from min to max.
