Hello Everyone,

I just picked up a brand new 2018 M240i XDrive in Alpine White with Coral Red Interior a few weeks ago and joined this forum!

Any tips or tricks you guys can share would be great. I really regret not getting the M Performance Exhaust as I would like it to be a little louder. I've heard of people removing the resonator, anyone tried this?

Well, I can certainly verify that the MP exhaust burbles and blats when in sport settings. The unfortunate thing is it's very audible to those outside the car but hardly noticeable to the driver inside. Even with the windows down. Kind of a bummer.

Anyway to make the stock exhaust louder? I love the sound, just wish it were a little louder.

If I'm going to spend money on a new exhaust, I may explore other options aside from the MP.

Beautiful car! I can tell you what I did to mine, blacked out kidney grills and painted front reflectors. But that's just my taste it might not be for everyone. Good luck with your M240i!

Congrats on the new ride....I don't know, the sound seems just right to me.
Want to hear it when I get on it, but not always....but that is just me.

I think once you go through the break-in period and then start heating up the engine and exhaust due to some intense driving - you’ll get the pops and burbles as you let off the gas and slow into lower gears. So don’t get antsy at this time over upgrades.

Had the centre oval silencer removed, kept the resonator ( sausage shape pipe) and fitted new tips, sounds fantastic and saved a lot.

In English a silencer = a muffler in American, it is the small integral unit in the mid pipe.

Hm, guess I'll have to see if I can find a picture. Not the big muffler in the back tho?

Nice M240i! I found an MPE on Ebay for $800 and some change. It's a nice subtle sound enhancement. I also like that it doesn't have the valves.

I totally disagree. The MP is much louder and transforms the sound. Mine was so loud I had to code off the interior active sound as it was too loud in the cabin. Now its perfect. I totally recommend.
