Bilstein B16 PSS10
I am having these installed Monday on my 228 xdrive (with base suspension). Just wondering if anyone has run them and any thoughts... what setting you dialed in at etc.
This will be for fun street driving with MPSS 235/45 running on 17 inch wheels. Thanks in advance. |

Installed!
Here are a couple pics: Questions: How does it look? Did the shop lower the appropriate amount do you think? I am waiting for it to settle and then making any necessary adjustments and getting an alignment. I have damping/rebound set to 5 (the middle) all the way around. Curious if others run different settings on rear or front? Thanks so much. I'm excited to drive it hard for a bit.

Okay hoping someone responds to this thread because my feelings are getting hurt
Supposedly the shop lowered the car evenly front and back but the space between the wheel and the car is clearly larger in the rear (maybe half an inch). Is the wheel well in a 228 larger in the back or did they not lower evenly?

The range of lowering is indicated in the short manual that comes in the box with the coilovers. Sometimes this is missed because it's not too obvious.
The range is usually only 2-2.5 cm and should not be exceeded because otherwise the shocks are going to die earlier than expected. That manual also includes instructions on how to correctly measure that range. This, of course, should be checked before the install. So, even though there's a lot more thread on the shocks not all of that thread can be used. Other than that, the amount of lowering front and rear are a matter of personal preference. How is the ride? I'm looking at the B14 and the M Performance kit but need to see installed pics of it first. Bilstein is always great stuff, never had an issue in many years with their products.

Hi Joey. I have an alignment scheduled tomorrow so I will know in full after that but as of now it it is vast improvement over my xdrive base suspension. I have it set on 5 (the middle) and its firm without being harsh. The car handles much better than before.

That's the look I'm going for. What are your wheel and tire specs?

Wheels are 17x8 and 235/45 for tires. I can't get it over how well the car handles now.
