Interior Options
Hey all,
Looking at a 2016 m235i and trying to understand if the attached interior pic would tell me about what dealer installed (or aftermarket) options are present. I’m focused on the passenger dash “mperformance” stitching area and the shift knob/boot. The outside of the car doesn’t have the mperformance side skirts so I don’t think it’s got the “full” mperformance option list. Or maybe you could have pick and choose what you ordered. Anyways thanks |

That makes sense. So we pretty much can’t tell if it has the short throw or any mperformance “performance” parts just based on the picture, right?
Also, all that mperformance stuff was installed at the dealer so they wouldn’t show up on a vin decoder or the dealer run version, right? |

All that stuff can be purchased and installed by any competent DIYer. There was no short shift kit in the BMW catalog, just the knob.
https://www.bmwblog.com/2014/04/01/n...ies-coupe-f22/ Link shows a decent list of the M perf. goods with part numbers. Brake caliper color (red, orange, yellow), muffler embossed with M performance are good signs there's actual performance parts and not just appearance. Grille being black is a thing 90% of owners do so that is not a good indicator. Last edited by freakystyly; 11-24-2022 at 08:36 AM.. |

As far as I recall from when I ordered my 2016 M235i the only actual performance enhancement for this model was the retro-fit M Performance Limited Slip Differential. Everything else is cosmetic.
For me, the retro-fit MP Exhaust doesn’t make the car perform better as such, it’s more of a sound thing. And while the 19” wheels might be a bit more agile, I don’t count them as in the same category as an engine/transmission enhancement.
