M235i with M2's Akrapovic Evolution Line
Hi everyone,
in few days i will buy an Akrapovic M2 Evolution Line to fit on my M235i. I didn't see anything on internet showing that the M2 Akrapovic Line fits the M235i but i will list as follow all the elements which let me think that Akra M2 fits M235i : - The OEM downpipe reference is the same for the M235i and the M2 - Many people on internet show that the stock M2 muffler fits the M235i ( only need a quad tips diffuser ) - The SuperSprint front pipe part is the same for the M2 and M235i ( reference 988612 ) which indicates that the exhaust hanger support is located at the same place on the M2 and M235i - The new IPE Full Exhaust Titanium Line has the same reference for M2 and M235i - The 2 main heat protections ( tunnel and fuel tank ) have the same OEM reference for M2 and M235i which indicates that the space around the midpipe section is similar. Although all these elements let think that the M2 Akra Line will fit my M235i, does anyone have already hear or see that it's 100% compatible ? Thank you ! |

Wish they would've just made one for the m235 too.

There is no reason it shouldn't, if the OEM M2 exhaust fits the M235i, then so would most aftermarket ones as well.

There is an option that's enabled via Bluetooth adapter that it will play Mozart's 25th Symphony through the exhaust in burbles.

Unfortunately no
I'm in Europe, i will buy it at a little lower price. The problem with all others aftermarkets stainless steel exhaust is the drone. I run Fabspeed Sport Cat Downpipe and the major part of aftermarket exhaust ( midpipe + muffler ) are made 76 mm pipe diameter. If you have a sport cat downpipe or catless, all the line without resonator in 76mm will produce drone, anyway the brand ect. I went to a workshop specialist to fix my drone problem, i was running Fabspeed Sport Cat downpipe, midpipe and muffler bypass. It was simply horrible. Impossible to drive : huge drone, vibrations everywhere in cabin, "Zzzzzz" from speakers, a nightmare. And everything was perfectly fitted. Guys at workshop told me that 76mm diameter is the perfect way to get drone because too large for only a 6 in-line engine. They did a "big" made to measure resonator to stop drone. It stopped at cruising RPMs ( 1500 - 2500 ) so i got comfort but still present at 1200 - 1500 RPMs and between 2500 and 3500. The sound produce changed also. These guys at the workshop are able to realize made to measure full titanium exhaust line, which is very very rare. They explained to me the difference between stainless steel and titanium ( titanium avoid drone ) and the advantage to use 2 midpipe tube like the Akra with a little diameter than one in 76 mm. Problem is the price for their made to measure titanium line, they are close to the price i can get the Akra. So yes it's very expensive but an agressive tone exhaust without drone is very hard to get and it has a price. |

That's interesting, thanks for the code. I have MPE at the moment and would like more sound. Tempted to do the Dinan midpipe resonator delete but wouldn't want irritating sound.
This doesn't help me decide what to do, but maybe will help me decide it's good enough as is. |

Once again like you acknowledged but didn't acknowledge in your posts to FabSpeed. Your car was STRAIGHT PIPED with a high flow cat. That's why you had drone and vibrations.

For exemple brands like Armytrix and Remus use 2 small pipes for their midpipe, it helps to contain drone. But remus sound is too "quiet" for me and i don't like the Armytrix sound. Last edited by Bibopp; 01-27-2018 at 10:27 AM.. |

Interesting. Some people say it smells. And while people report no CEL I wonder why one would be worried about that?

Worried because if you get a CEL after the downpipe replacement, it means that the two O2 sensors can not analyze properly the gaz flow and it can make the engine working different. And then it needs an ECU tune. |

The HJS supplied 300cel downpipe that Fabspeed also sells should be a little bit better in that regard too. (Fabspeed Sport Cat being a 200cel HJS cat)

Curious if anybody has experimented with the insulating wrap (like for headers) on the rest of the pipe to quell drone or vibration. It would be a fairly cheap experiment, but I DK if there is even room around the pipes.

I imagine one of these units could be installed just before the axle section, there seems to be enough space. Unfortunately, it is increasingly difficult to find a decent exhaust shop - this may be a job for a fabricator and therefore cost more $. |

Yes, insulating wrap doesn't change anything.
