I miss the steering in my 1. But everything else is far superior in the 2.

I do NOT hate the 2 series, as an 135i owner.

It's just on pictures, the 1er Coupé looks really... what can I say.. too friendly for a bimmer.
But live it is a different story. I must agree at stock height/package besides of other cars it looks still very soft especially from the front. I like the sidelook and the rear of the 135i.

To be honest, BMW made the 2er nearly perfect (PP included and not standard wheels) as it is. I wish the 1er had the flawless dynamic design of the 2er. Even the size of the 2er is just, perfect for my needs.

We'll see what the future brings, I'll keep my 135i for the moment as I'm just happy with it. And.. you can play around with lots of people in the daily traffic. The read like "Oh a 1er, I can push him aside" "Ah ah ahh... I say, good bye my friend "

You know, since there is a synthetic element to the in-cabin engine sound, you would think one of the tuning companies would offer after-market tuning of the engine sound. I mean why not? I know we would prefer a great natural sound, but if you don't have that and you are already listening to an enhanced engine sound, why not go all the way? Why not make it sound like a Detroit V8? Or a V12 Lambo?

I know this is a little silly, but I'm actually kinda serious.

Is there a way to disable the synthetic engine/exhaust sound?

My understanding is that there is a fuse that can be pulled.

Have you installed it?
How is the sound?
I tried ordering PE for F30 328i during Leith Dealer special but it was cancelled.
I'm hesistant on using PE for M235i as it is tuned for N55 engine and not N20.

Have the MPE on my M235i. Car drives great and sounds really good.

-Quiet in eco/comfort or when cruising on highway
-Agressive when in sport/+
-Nasty upon cold startup or when romping on it.

The absolute worst seems to be Jeep owners. For example, the new Cherokee has well documented transmission issues, and many of the owners at jeepcherokeeclub.com are in complete denial. They are tired of hearing that the vehicle they just spent $30k or $40k on has major problems. Actually the trans problem is so widespread I guess they are concerned about resale value. To try to hide the issue, the people who run the forum moved all the trans complaints to the technical section of the forum (what potential buyer would be looking there?) and they have outright banned forum members who were complaining. You can imagine the attacks on Consumer Reports and JD Power when they released their owner surveys.

I agree with the 1 series owners initial impressions of the two series having light steering and being a bit softer but the more you drive it (especially in sport mode) the more you appreciate it. You can drive this car seriously fast once you master it.

The 2 series is the only new car bmw makes that interests me, and i don't think there's much hate of the 1addicts on the 2 series. I think the complaints people have apply generally to most new cars out there.

It reminds me of when i bought my 128i. I really wanted was a e36 M3, but wanted a new car with a warranty that i would keep for years without causing too much trouble. I did find the 128i to be a little too quiet and refined, not as connected as the M3, but what else was out there at the time?

Bottom line is a lot of people can't deal with having the old model. Happens every time a new model comes out, pretty stupid IMHO.

Personally looking to an M2 convert, if they make one, to replace mine.

2 is not quite perfected 1

Have driven M235 three times and I think it is a very good car. For me, it is 200 lbs, improved steering feel and a few design tweaks away from being a great car. I think the M2 will be that car.

The same reason why folks attack someone here for mentioning a competing car. It isn't any different. Folks here (2-series forum) attack people for mentioning a competing car in the same manner that you were attacked over there. Mention an Audi S3 here and see what happens.

I could care less. The 2 series IMO looks much better than the short 1 series.

Those who are seeking a lighter car might consider the 228/230 (also the brunt of a bit of putdown-ranking, even on these fair pages). It gets you that 200# lighter, can be set up with all the handling goodies, and if you really feel you need that extra HP it is just a tuner-gizmo away. Of course it does lack those extra ///M badges, so I seldom get mobbed by supermodels

I've haven't been to any of their forums. Normally I would expect pissing matches to be much worse online. However, living in the South I've seen Ford vs Chevy arguments turn into fist fights.
