helping a friend

So my friend hit me up today saying he thinks he is getting a loud bov sound obviously when letting off the gas

He sent me a video and it almost sounds like he has some sort of upgraded dv or something

He just purchased the car a couple of weeks ago and just installed only a dp

And it has a dinan intake and took off the box and let the intake just sit like so.

Does anyone have a clue what it can be

Here is a video of how is car sounds

I have a f30 n55 my self with an intake and it does not sound nothing like this lol

Bov sound is very loud lol crazy lol

Or is this normal for 235i

What do you mean by " took off the box and let the intake just sit like so"? I'm assuming the filter is still attached.

He really should use all airbox components as it will allow the engine to ingest cooler air rather than hot underhood air which kills power.

These cars with open intakes can have quite loud diverter valve noises which has a blow-off valve like noise. It's normal.

So what he did was he has a dinan Intake

And what he did was take off the lid to get better spool Intake noises

But he has been noticing that his intake sound is way way louder than any other m235i or n55

I have a n55 engine with a bms intake and I don't even have that sound

His almost sounds like it has a sequential bov

Almost like some sort of 2jz engine lol

And he is a little worried that maybe something is wrong

But if is normal in the m235i then he is fine then

Idk If you saw the link

Could be a broken valve and that's all flutter, or could have a aftermarket valve, probably have to take some things apart to be 100% sure
