WeatherTech VS “Leather” Floor Mats

I have used weathertech mats in the past, beefy as well and very utilitarian!
Now... I don’t know if I want that for the M240.
Anyone has some real experience with those leather floor mats?
I see them on FB with typical e-commerce sale strategies, no real reviews that I can trust.

Looking to get some nice premium ones.
Any advices?

Thanks!

I actually like the genuine BMW rubber mats. They don't have as high a lip as the WeatherTech, so if you have a ton of slush it could slop over. But they are sturdy, well made, look OK, and fit perfectly.

Only goofy thing is that you need to cut off the tab they display them with in racks with a sharp knife or heavy-duty scissors. I see some people who've never done that on theirs.

I replaced mine with BMW's “M” floor mats. Appear to be weather resistant but have a nicer look than the all weather varieties. Cleaning is easy too, just spray cleaning solution, scrub with a brush and wipe off with a microfiber. One could try rinsing off with a hose but I haven’t found it necessary.

I just picked up a set of WeatherTech mats for my M240i and the wife's X3. It's my first experience with them and they're really well made. I'm only keeping them in for the winter then they'll come out. I'm generally not a fan of all weather mats. They seem to always make the interior look dirty. I had the M performance mats in a previous 135i. They fit well and looked good. They started to look a little dried out after a while.

I used to have some WeatherTech on our previous car, I have also ordered a set from Munucci. Let's see how they do!

My wife's 2016 228i Convertible has the "cold-weather" package that included rubber mats. We like to use them when we go to the beach to keep the sand out of the carpets (it rarely snows here). I prefer them over the WeatherTech mats.

I would say you only really need them if you live in a place with frequent slush, or if for some reason you find yourself with muddy/ dirty shoes often.

The leather mats were great when I lived in Indiana with frequent snow and ice, but in Dallas, I do just fine with carpet.

I must confess that I have no idea what leather mats are. Carpet, OK; cocoa, OK; rubber, OK. Leather?

I bought the WeatherTech floor liners and the cargo/trunk liner. I use the cargo liner for trips to the track; it's probably helped protect the carpet back there a bit. I removed the OEM carpets in preparation for installing the WeatherTech front floor liners, but have never gotten around to installing them. I've been driving around without any floor coverings for the last 4K - probably time to put something down on the floor.

They are some kind of fake leather. Usually made from polyethylene and other materials.

Ah, pleather!
One of my favorite substances. Years ago, there was a very brief fad for pleather shoes, very, very brief.

My complaint with all the mats I've seen forever, including Weathertec is the gap in the front right corner.
