M235i Budget winter wheels clearance

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a budget set of BMW alloys for the winter season. I have 436M on my M235i for non-winter driving.

I found a good deal on a set of styling 320 painted ferric grey with a great set of tires as well, so that's something that I'm interested in. However, those alloys are all 8J ET 30, is it possible they would fit my car? Would there be any issues with brake caliper/suspension clearance?

I have 15mm spacers installed on the rear as well. The tires on the alloys in question are 225/45/18.

Many thanks

You should be fine in terms of brake clearance unless the spokes have a weird design. The offset is comparable to our 18x8.5 ET35 wheels and shouldn't be a concern either. The tires however are a bit too tall. Generally, I recommend a 225/40-18 rather than a 225/45-18. The extra height might cause some rubbing issues on the fender side along with speedometer error.

If you ran these wheels you would want to remove your 15mm spacers.

225/45-18 Sottozero 3 winter tyres on 18x8 ET45 wheels works on an M240i without rubbing (BMW allows some clearance on the 225/40-18 for low profile cable style chains). The speedometer may be more accurate, on my car with 245/35-18 rear tyres it is 3% high reading, with 225/45-18 tyres it is 1% low.

Nice, good to hear that those taller tires clear with the +45 offset. I wonder if they would clear on the OPs ET30 wheels though as they will be quite a bit closer to the fenders. On your setup do you think you could run ~15mm spacers without rubbing?
