I connected the amp to the battery using 8 gauge cable and noticed no difference in sound quality. You shouldn't have to hook it up to the battery; I did it just to try it out.

Check out Audiotec Fischer website for tuning tips. https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/d...ning-magazine/

Thanks a lot!
I will have a look to the link when I'll have time.
For now, I loaded the "Limousine" tune file I found on audio fischer website, and it is quite good (to my hear) compared to the others I tested.

Did you have the Harman Kardon system before? I have that system in my M235i convertible and have installed the Match Up 7 amp as well as an 8" Alpine subwoofer in the trunk fed by a 500W kicker amp. I am very curious to know how the Focal speakers (did you get the BMW-specific ones?) with the Match amp compare with the HK speakers w/Match amp.

For me, the amp replacement resulted in a very noticeable improvement in the soundstage and the subwoofer has greatly improved the bass detail and impact, but I still feel like the midrange and treble are lacking some clarity. I particularly feel this way after driving my E90 with the Logic 7 system and (especially) after driving my wife's new Audi Q5 with the B&O system. I think new speakers, at least in the front, are likely the answer, but do not have time to go to 5 different shops to listen in person. Morel, Focal, etc. all seem to use difference, dispersed dealers in my area.

Hello,

I had the Hifi option before switching the OEM amp and speakers (except subwoofers).
First I changed the amp, sound was improved but it was not so impressive (also I did not have time to correctly setup the amp).
Three days after, I changed for the IFBMW-S focal in front doors and a pair of ICU 100 for rear pillar.
I can see how OEM speakers are a shame compared to the focal.
The result was much better without debate but still need to tune the amp because to much medium from central channel.
I loaded the "limousine" tune file from Audiofischer website thanks to DSP-tool and it makes a big step further and I'm very please with it right now.
End of the week I will be in vacation so I will try to tune it more precisely.

Where are y'all sourcing the Match UP-7BMW? I can't find it anywhere online in stock and the prices are approaching $1000. For that money is there not anything else that would be a better value with equal or better performance?

what are people doing here about an amp remote?
There are 3 helix options - the director, a single SRC, and a dual.
I've seen people plug it up under the radio, next to the e-brake, side of seat, and of course near the trunk popper button.

Has anyone taken one apart to mount next to the idrive? So there is a big knob for idrive and a small knob for the remote?

I've seen people do this for sub amps to have a dedicated volume knob for the sub, but with a helix remote?
If you use the dual remote, what are you using the two knobs for, overall volume and sub volume?

I’ve got an M235i convertible (F23) with HIFI and Bavsound Stage 1 speakers. I just ordered a Match 7BMW amp as well. I know they have a “Cabrio” sound setup file, has anyone with a 2 series convertible used this? I assume this is for top down music, is that the case and if so how close is it to being accurate? Which is the preferred setup file for top up from among "Gran Turismo", "Limousine" and "Touring"? Any custom setup files out there for F23s?

And if I want to be able to switch between setups for top up and top down, should I just get one of the remotes (URC 2A or 3)?

Thanks for any guidance you can offer!

Patrick

No additional fees. Doubt I paid tax either. Been a while but was a good deal. The amp is powerful and rips. If I did it over again, I would have started with a tunable amp. Really drive the underseat subs great!!

Question on equalizing the amp. I just installed the 7BMW in my M235i and have used the software to set everything up to the point of equalizing. Starting on p. 54 of the Sound Tuning Magazine, which references v3 of the PC-Tool software, the instructions are different from what I see in v4 (the current version and the first that supports the 7BMW amp). How did you guys go about setting the EQ bands? And what did you do with the new FX functions (FX Menu) like Augmented Bass Processing, Center Processing and Front Processing? This review of the 7BMW amp from Car HIFI does a good job of explaining these FX functions.

Thanks for any help you can provide, I just want to make sure I get this set up right!

Did you use the factory bracket, or is a bracket supplied?

Thanks!

Quick question: do I need to install the ASD bypass harness when I install the amp? Or do I just code it off? I have BimmerCode.

Match UP-7BMW

...does not fit my 2018 M240i (July 2017 build.) The factory bracket has slots and the factory amp has tabs. Also, the main connector is different, same shape, but the pins' location is slightly different than the amp's connector.

Update: I received an email from Doug Dobson of MSC. That’s the company that’s either importing these amps or providing US support. The bracket issue was my stupidity for not pulling everything out of the box! The bracket was there and the installation was straightforward. Doug also provided me with a picture of the AF connector modification. Basically, the AF main connector has 2 extra vertical bars inside the connector. I sharpened an old flat blade screwdriver and shaved off the extra plastic. The connector and the factory connector went together without a hitch. BUT, the AF V4 software would not recognize the amp. Yes, I installed the 64 bit driver (laptop runs Windows 10 version 1909, a 64 bit version). And yes, the green LED on the amp was illuminated. The laptop chimed when I either plugged the AF usb cable into the computer or removed from the computer. This tells me the computer (Windows) recognized they amp. However, whenever I used the AF software it always show “disconnected” at the top. I tried rebooting, etc. Nothing worked. I am awaiting an email from Doug. I will keep this post up to date.

Update: it works! I worked with Doug Dobson of MSC America. The problem was that while the driver (64 bit ACO) was loaded but it wasn’t installed. I went to the events list and clicked on “driver loaded.” This installed the driver!! I then loaded a few of the .apfx files from various posters on this forum. Settled on one .apfx file and mod’d. The software is amazing, very simple to use. So, I’m a happy camper!?👍

Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car's VIN. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to audio and check the amp's part #. I've attached a page from realoem for my 2018 M240i. I think all 2 series use an analog system, not the MOST.

I've been reading this thread. Pretty awesome while at the same time very depressing. I have a MY20 M240, which I like a lot, but I found the standard audio ... well ... in a word: atrocious.

I'm no audiophile, but I know I got trash when my Ford F150 standard audio system sounds miles (I mean miles) above the thing they put in the M240. I bought it without the HK, because the HK on my E92 was a little lacking (but way better than my F150). On a side note, my wifes' X1 sounds really good (non HK), so I'm stunned that mine sounds so bad. No amount of fiddling with the tone settings helps.

Going through this thread, it seems like a moderate upgrade is going to cost me from 2 to 4K to have professionally installed. Are there any other options out there?

Yeah, BMW seems to skimp on the audio system of its “cheaper” cars. The audio system in the F22/F23 is analog. All more expensive models (3 series and up) get digital systems. My suggestion is start with a budget. The speakers are easy to replace. I upgraded the HK system in my 2018 M240i with Etons up front and JLs in the back. As you’ve read above I changed the factory HK amp with the Audiotec-Fischer 7UP BMW amp because it’s tunable. However, tuning has shown the weaknesses of even the replacement speakers.

The next thing is to get from eBay or an auto recycler the HK tweeter “sails.” These are attached to the door and sit against the A pillars. Your car has 2-way speakers in front and back. The HK system uses component speakers up front. So if you decide to install 2-way component speakers up front you’ll need the HK tweeter sails. The JLs I installed at the back are 2-way speakers-no separate tweeters.
