Factory Window Tint Removal??
Hello...just bought a 2017 CPO M240i and it has some pretty dark tint. I want it removed. The rear window lettering says "70%". However, it looks much darker. I have removed window tint on other vehicles myself, but this window tint is essentially too perfect (IMO) for an aftermarket job. It is cut perfectly to fit into the opaque window border. The build sheet does not mention anything more than an "S823A Hot-Climate Version". Could it be tinted at the factory?

Could be, if that's the case then they tint it with laser so you can't do anything about that other then replacing the window.

I am not aware of factory tint as an option. The prior owner probably just had a high quality installation. Your photo of your car looks just like mine. I have 50% 3m Ceramic tint on the four side windows.
I suggest you have someone measure the darkness and make your decision from there. |

Those windows look exactly the shade of the standard color, direct from the factory, which is built into the glass. Only option is to take a sledge hammer to those mofos. You might make some bucks posting the video on the tube, but not likely enough to pay for them.

That is not OEM. Looks like 20% on the quarter glass and 35% on the door window.

The only way to find out is to go to a glass guy. I am suspicious, though, mostly because the front windows and the quarter windows are quite different in tint. I don't know of any aftermarket people who would do that, but that is the way the car comes from the factory.

If you go to a tint shop, and it is indeed applied, they could take it off for you in most cases. |

I assume you bought it 2nd hand from a dealership - so it's not like you can ask the previous owner.
You can always go to a BMW dealership and ask them. Maybe then can use the VIN to look up the build spec. I'm still confident it's privacy glass from the factory. |
