I came from a M235i and don’t get me wrong, I love my M2, but there are drawbacks as well. Operating cost is higher, it’s not as comfortable, and it’s more expensive. The “regular” 2 series is a fantastic car. Honestly, I wouldn’t be envious of the M2. You have already have an awesome car! And hey, you can always get a M2 later

Having had a Z4M in the past, it is rather a waste of money having an ///M car if it isn’t driven hard either on the track or on the road, but it does come at a cost. I estimated a single track day in the Z4M for a distance of 250km cost about CAD $1500 in consumables - wear of tyres and brakes, fuel, oil and brake fluid. About CAD $6 per kilometre or US $3 per mile.
This does pale in comparison to running a late model 911 turbo with ceramic brakes, though. Someone I know estimates it costs him $6000 per day in consumables, as he has only been getting 3 to 5 track days between ceramic brake jobs. |

I wouldn't use the word "envy", but list of cars i'd love to own is a pretty long one lol. With that being said, I just got my m235i a few months ago and she's definitely a long term keeper.
