So happy to be back!

I decided to spend my mid-life crisis on driving cars I had always wanted to own. Over the last several years I have had a Porsche Cayman and Boxster and a Merc but had not given BMW much thought until I ran across a few articles about the 128i and I was intrigued. So I found a nice used 2011 and just fell in love. This little car really changed my mind about BMW and I just smiled every time I drove it.

Then I found a great lease deal on an Alfa Romeo Giulia, and Alfa was also on my list of cars to drive, so I traded in the 128i. MISTAKE! The Giulia is not a bad car but it is very weird and not nearly as enjoyable as my little 128i.

My lease ended this month so I went looking for its replacement. I never stopped thinking about how much fun that 128i was so I decided I would look at the newer 228i or a 230i. I only found a few that were spec’d the way I would want and the dealers weren’t dealing. I was getting frustrated. I decided to look at the 235i and 240i just to see what was out there. I had not driven one and more HP sounded like fun. I really lucked out and found a CPO Estoril blue 240i with 14k on the odometer at a pretty good price.

All I can say is wow! This car is so much fun and I am still getting used to that extra HP and its stepping out in the back end when given the juice. It will go! I just wish I could transplant the hydraulic rack from that 128i into this car – it would be the greatest car ever.

Welcome back! We've had our 228i for just over a month - quite a bit of fun after the automatic 328i Xdrive for the past three years.

Congrats on the M240i. My first BMW was an 08' 135i 6MT with the sport package as the only option. I absolutely loved that car. Since then I've 4 BMW's and a GTI.

The M235i made me fall in love with BMW's again and gave me that same feeling the 135i gave me. The feeling that you were driving something truly special. The M240i took that feeling and cranked it up a couple of notches. I couldn't be happier with the M240i. You've got yourself one hell of a car to enjoy it! Oh, and you have to post some pics.

Congratulations, Mac. Nice ride.

If it makes you feel any better, I have been going through my mid-life crises for about 30 years. I hope I never get tired of it...!

It was a genuine BMW T-shirt celebrating BMW's return to DTM racing in 2012 - BMW part # 80902337584 or 80142295192 - no longer available from BMW.

You can find them on eBay.
