@ kuhleen

It looks like the very top plug can pull out, leaving the rest of the connectors and wires attached to the climate vents. Look at how that very top plug is clipped in and use a tiny flathead screwdriver to release whatever clips are keeping it secured. Then you can take the whole assembly with the vents and wires inside and take your time unclipping the vents from the surrounding trim.

You can do it!

I used a small flat head to very carefully work once side out, top or bottom and once it was free they just slid out

Where did you find a lci trim radio kit for your car? I'm only seeing 3 and 4 series models only

Anyone else notice a significant gap when installing the door handles? On the top corner that faces you (passenger or driver). It was a slight pet peeve, but not that big of a deal initially. However, when the temperatures rise, that corner actually pops out. I've tried adjusting to see if it's not full clipped in, but that hasn't made any positive difference.

I had the same issue with my driver's side handle cover. The gap was slightly open and when it was warm out, cover would pop loose when I'd grab the handle to close the door. After numerous attempted reinstalls, it turns out that I wasn't quite getting all the small leading edge tabs of the cover to seat fully, thus the larger tabs could not fully grab and clip in. It's hard to explain in a post, but all I can say is you need to make sure everything is seating, especially on the cover edge where your palm/thumb would contact the cover. That's where I was having the issue. Once I figured out how to seat the cover fully, the gap is gone and it's never pop out since.

Interesting. I have the exact issue you are describing, but only on the passenger side cover. We've had a string of near 100 degree days lately and the hot temperature definitely causes the top to pop out. Even when I pop it back in, the gap definitely seems larger than the driver's side which never has this issue.

I think we have been experiencing the same string of hot temps (I'm also in the bay). I also noticed that it continues to pop out during the hot temps, but eventually stays in when it cools down. Wondering if the shape of the piece is a bit imperfect, putting pressure on the clip, then the heat softens the clip so it pops out...

Nope. You guys haven't seated the leading edge clips on the cover. I'm talking about the tiny clips and ridges along the perimeter of the cover. You may also need to make sure the attachment points on the door handles haven't bent, thus not grabbing the cover tabs.

I hear what you're saying but I'm scared if I pull it off to re-install in case I break some of the tabs while removing it!

That makes sense, I kept thinking to myself, "there's no way this expensive BMW part can be this janky". Would you mind sharing a photo of yours, so I can get an idea of how sealed it should really be?

Thanks in advance!

So are these the same as the new 2020 M240i Carbon Fiber trim?

This is what it should look like fully seated.

Thank you.

Yeah, I just took mine off and carefully reattached them, yet I still have more of a gap than that. I wonder if some of them are slightly imperfect in shape or something...

I have found them and they match perfectly: https://faserschmiede.de/produkt/str...-2er-facelift/.

They were not in stock, but ordered via facebook.

If you want is in one package it is only available for the LCI (2018+)

You can order the individual pieces including the center console piece for the convertible or get the non convertible pre LCI set and then also purchase the center console piece.

Looks good!

Quick question, are there two sets of gear paddles installed here?

Just one - what you're seeing is the original ones in front that are the actual paddles and behind them are the the red aluminum extenders (3M tape).
