Anyone here put the Firehawk 500's on the 2er??

The guy next to me at recent HPDE was running these on a Chevy SS, said that he'd gotten about 9000 miles on the last set, with some of that being track. I got the impression this was a '80% performance for 50% of the cost' type of situation, rather than a 'found the perfect tire'. They seemed to be wearing fairly even, and did not give up on him during the sessions, but obviously a very different car.

I had these on my E46 once, and would have to concur with the 80% of performance for 50% of the price.

Track day went great. 5 - 20 min runs and they performed great and held up well. Very happy

I have Conti's on my M235 but I bought a set of these for the same reasons about 6 years back for my Audi B5 S4.

They performed great in the dry (very good value) but I had a very different experience in the wet. My gripe with these was that you had no warning at all, they just broke loose under less than severe loading or precipitation conditions. Previously I had run Conti DW's and ended up scrapping the Firestone's and going back to the Conti's.

These tires scared the hell out of me for that reason, and it was the only high performance summer tire I have had that behaved in this manner on that car (15 years and 300K miles). FWIW.

The current Indy 500's are completely different than the previous generation(s). You'll find them rated at the very top of the Ultra High Performance category on TireRack with the highest wet ratings and 2.4 million customer miles reported.

Bear in mind though that the Ultra High Performance Summer tyre category is two categories below the top of the road legal summer tyre categories, with tyres such as the Michelin Pilot Sport, P4S and Conti ExtremeContact being in the Max Performance category and tyres such as the RE-71R and Direzza Star Spec in the Extreme Performance category.

They will do well compared with all-season tyres and are economical, but not that well compared with the best summer tyres if dry grip and handling are the main aims.

All true, but for street and canyon carving in Southern CA where it's warm and dry 90% of the time, the 500's are not underperformers by any means compared to the higher categories. The street typically limits your performance more than the tire. My ultimate dry grip and handling requirements are met by my dedicated set of Hankook R-S4's or Federal 595 RS-RR's at the track. I wouldn't run anything less than these extreme performance category on the track where I want max grip and handling.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Firehawks but I smacked myself in the face because I know I would regret not buying Mich Pilot 4S and would regret it. Best tire money can buy hands down. Won't go down "cheap" street to compromise my ride. Don't kid yourself...

^THIS... nuf said. Why wouldn't anyone buy the best? Screw the budget and buy quality. Pays off in the long run hence a great driving experience.

I bought a set of these last year after I took delivery of my M235i.

The dealership I bought my car from had replaced 2 of the stock Pirelli's, but replaced them with non-RFT's. So I had RFT's in the rear, and non-RFT's in the front.

I had just dropped a bunch of cash buying the car so I decided to go with a set of Firehawk Indy 500's. I have been pleasantly surprised by them. I got them on sale with a rebate and got a square set (225's) for under 400 bucks from TireRack.

They certainly feel better than the Pirelli A/S tires my car came with.

I would definitely consider buying another set of these tires.

I used Goodyear 205 / 60R16 on my first BMW 320i 2013 sedan. I'm happy with this tire.
