Bootmod3 install issue

I've been dealing with some BM3 install issues all day on my 2017 M240i. I thought I was smart by waiting till Saturday morning to do the flash in the event I run into issues, I'd have all weekend to troubleshoot with the PTF folks but looks like they're only available Mon-Fri. So I'm reaching out for help since my car is essentially bricked at the moment.

I get to the very end of the map I'm trying to flash, and every time I get the "Flash was not successful. To retry..." error.

I've tried flashing on my computer as well as my phone.
I've tried disconnecting the battery for a few mins and trying again.
I've tried all the different flash options on the map.
I've tried multiple different maps including the stock map.
I've tried jumper cables to charge my battery for about 15 mins to rule out low voltage.
I've tried a trickle charger for a couple hours as well.

My car is currently a paper weight in my driveway and I'm obviously beyond frustrated. Any other tips or am I SOL till I hear back on my support ticket?

Have you tried plugging in your seat belt?

If your on laptop make sure your actually connected to internet sometimes hotspot can be hit or miss. Also try another internet browser as well as another Ethernet port or if you have usb-Ethernet adapter and make sure you haven't set any static ips for that port(use auto dhcp) Lastly wouldn't hurt to reinstall the bm3 agent.

Unfortunately I've tried all that as well. I reinstalled both the app on my phone and download on my computer multiple times and started everything from scratch each time. I must have tried 15 different flash attempts.

Update:

The good. Serge was able to log on remotely and get my car flashed back to stock. Kudos to him and his knowledge, impressive stuff. My car is drivable now.

The bad. I recently had my car at the dealer for a soft recall due to a DME update. Since my software is the most current issued by BMW, the BM3 maps can't be flashed. I have to take my car to a BM3 dealer to have the DME unlocked. The closest dealers are 3-6 hours away.

Since I just installed a downpipe, but won't be able to use the tune for a bit, are there any concerns with running a downpipe + intake + axleback exhaust on a stock tune? No emissions in my state.

No, but you won't be getting the max gains from the hardware absent the tune.

It's why I take my car to specialists for anything other than changing wheels and brake pads, and checking tire pressures and fluid levels.

What happened was a rare occurrence. I've flashed 2 cars on BM3 and had no issues. I barely have the know all to hack a amazon fire stick.

Another update. Overnighted my DME to have it bench unlocked. Just got it back today. The car took the tune fine but then the engine wouldn't turn over, it just tries starting over and over again but won't fire up - same result with 3 different maps. It doesn't sound like a battery issue because it turns over strong, just never fires up.

Sorry to hear you’re dealing with that — beyond frustrating, for sure.

For what it’s worth, I did a BM3 tune this past weekend on my 2017 M240i too, without any issue. Sounds like something beyond the tune is up with your car — you don’t by chance have a GPS tracker or other piggyback installed on the OBD, do you? Does BM3 app pull any codes?

No GPS tracker, piggyback, etc. I only have some exhaust mods, everything else is stock. I haven't seen an option to view any codes with BM3 and now I can't drive it anywhere to have it scanned for codes

I’m a bit new to BM3, but believe you can pull codes from the “Diagnostics” menu from the app.

I’ve heard they have great customer service, maybe their tech team can figure this one out for you — would be worth it with your upgrades installed.

You ever figure this out? Was this from your software update?

Do you remember what serge did. I try to flash my f10 m5 with bm3 tune and car wont start. soon as i flash with stock file it starts fine. Tried all the tunes available for my car and none start my car. Only works when stock file is flashed back.
