Wheel setup for hpde?
Anyone have recommendations on either wheel brand/model for a dedicated set of track wheels for a novice just trying to learn atm? I'm driving and m240 with bilstein suspension. But don't want to toss my wheels or tires if I track a bunch. Also interested in set up, should I do square or stag hard etc. Just doing budget planning but not really sure what to do about wheels when I'm ready. Should I try to find something used since I'll beat them up?

Easiest way to go for a bolt on setup is:
Square 18x8.5 et35-45 (35 requires no spacers) 235/40 or 245/35 Lots of wheel options, Apex is a favourite due to fitment choices and strength:weight for a good price. |

Forget used as you'll haven no idea what the tires have experienced. If you are going to get dedicated track wheels+tires, then go "R" tires that are designed for thee track but can't legally be driven on the street. What tires are on the car now?

Is square a better option than staggered for track/autoX?

Myself and a few others here have opted for the 17x8 ET40 TR Motorsports wheels with 245/40 square tires with really good results. I went with Hankook Ventus R-S4’s for their durability and stiff sidewall. They do fit, only rubs slightly when backing out of my driveway at full lock but on the track you can’t beat it for the money. Great “plug and play“ from TireRack

It's preferred so you can rotate the tires and wear them evently around the car. Otherwise you can run staggered with an R comp like an RE71R which can be run backwards (dry only) to wear them out better otherwise you'll eat through tires much faster.
Can recommend RE71R's or Hankook RS4's (these are best for wear), personally.
